The island state of Tasmania is situated some 200 Kilometers south of Mainland Australia.
It is the smallest state in Australia ( 68,000 sq.km.) and measuring approx 200 km from North to South, East to West at it's broadest points.

It was the second settlement in Australia (after Sydney) the first settlers arrived in 1803 in Hobart, it was primarily settled as a penal colony to house prisoners from the United Kingdom.
While our heritage dates back to the 1800's, Aborigional settlement dates back some 40,000 years.

The Population in Tasmania is 473,000. Hobart = 195,500, Launceston = 98,500, Burnie = 18,000, Devonport = 25,000.

There are more than 2,000 walking tracks around the island, 18 national parks, and the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage area covers 1.38 million hectares.
