| The 2 month old fetus floats in the amnitotic sac while receving oxygen and nourishment by means of the umbilical vein, which flows through the umbilical cord form the placenta. The umbilical cord, which also carries two arteries, is kept rigid by the pressure of the onrushing blood. This keeps it from kinking or knotting no matter how much the baby turns or kicks. |
