| By 9 weeks, the eyelids have formed and the eyes are closed. The cells at the edge of each eyelid fuse together so that the eyeballs are protected during this crucial period of development into functioning organs. The ears are in the process of forming and the head is becoming more lke that of a human and less like a tadpole. The shoulders, arms, and hands are well formed and the ribs, which are still cartilage at this point, show clearly through the skin. |
