* Race Loop Trail * Meadow Run
|
Once you've made the grueling climb to the top, traversing the ski hills, there is a great stretch of open meadow single track that gently winds along the back of the resort connecting to other trails in the area.
These open meadow trails, in the wintertime, act as feeder trails from the top of the chairlifts.
There's a gentle climb on this leg of the loop, but nothing severe to cramp the legs or to leave you winded.
This was a nice sunny day. 24 C and a light breeze. Doug, Joanne & Marc in tow.

* X-Country Ski Trail * Single Track
|
On the west end of the Race Loop Trail, there are a series of shorter trails connecting nearby Holimont ski resort.
This trail is shorter and less technical than other trails but has sections of roots and handle bar tight squeezes through trees, making it still very interesting to ride.
This trail is part of a temporary detour as Holimont continues to develop, constructing a water holding pond close to the old trail.

* McCarty Hill Trail * Twisty Single Track
|
From the Race Loop trail, this very scenic single track winds along the ridge of the mountains. There are no steep climbs or descents, but many technical sections of tight blind turns, roots, logs and rock sections with some open glade running.

* McCarty Spur Trail * Technical Single Track
|
In this photo, Joanne maneuvers through a section of unstable flat rocks. This trail was cut only last year and the tech sections are still rough and very "edgy" making it next to impossible to ride clean. Definitely fun and challenging none the less.

* Mutton Hollow Trail * Single Track
|
Incredible scenery! Every section of this trail was different. Tight & twisty, whoop de do's, roller coaster descents and then winding climbs.
The terrain constantly changes along this trail going from hard pack to deep root sections to twisty loose rock sections to meadow runs and then back to hard pack.
There were a number of severe climbs along the way, but trail designers were ingenious mixing climbs and descents with flatter sections along the way, making the ride always interesting.
