Introduction

One would like to think I have a balanced life between Action, Art, and Thought but the realities prove otherwise - it's a sometimes harried movement from one thing to the next...

Biking

I commute quite a bit by bike, utilizing the bike racks on the buses quite often - it helps me meet my goal of using less than 100 gallons of gas each year and keeps me in shape.  I also distance bike, 20-30 miles a clip, hopefully more often in the future.  In 2000, I biked from Saint Paul to Chicago (500 miles over 5 days) in the AIDSRide, raising over $3,000 (Pre-ride & Post-ride newsletter).

Gardening

Before (above left) & After (above right)

Summer is the time for gardening - native flowers and grasses, heirloom tomatoes, kale, onions, lettuce, peppers, fresh basil, broccoli...yum!

Skiing

I live about one mile from the Como Golf Course, Saint Paul City park, biking over there when possible.  When it snows enough for a groomed trail, there's this frenzied feeling (not unlike the warmth of summer frenzy) that I need to use it as much as possible.

I also participated in my first cross-country skate ski race at the Mora Vasaloppet in February 2005, finished 35K (22 miles) in 2 hours and 18 minutes (342 out of 532).

Travel

I love to travel....a sampling of my trips from the last year:

Mexico City & Oaxaca, Mexico (Feb 2004)

Boundary Waters Canoe Area, Minnesota (Jun 2004)

Mount Hood, Oregon (Jul 2004)

Zion National Park, Utah (Mar 2005)

Ultimate Frisbee

Ultimate frisbee is a non-contact combination of soccer and football.  The last year has been a frisbee festival for me...

TBA (top photo)

TBA is a mid-level men's club team committed to spirit, respect, competition, and especially cheers.  TBA merged with Agape Groove early in the summer and the new team showed strong results at the end of the season, finishing 4-2 at Milwaukee Cooler (B-bracket) and 4-2 at Hallowinona (A-bracket).

Discontinued (bottom photo)

An older team with savvy and great cheer, we placed second in the coed Fall League regular season A-bracket standings and third in the playoffs, losing to the eventual champions by one in the semi-finals.

Return of the Disc

Basically Discontinued revisited, we are in the midst of the coed Winter League indoor regular season and are 4-1, atop the B-bracket, opting for fun instead of the club bracket proving ground (the fall league champions are 0-5 in the A-bracket).

Gravitron

Gravitron is a men's Summer League team I picked up with in 2004.  We finished fourth in the regular season and third in the playoffs.

Twin Cities Ultimate

TCUL (too-cool) is the organizing body of all things ultimate in the Twin Cities.

Ultimate Player's Association

The national ultimate frisbee organization.
