Documentation of the Development Process

The purpose behind making the Blind Grove website was to create an easy way for customers to be able to sign up for baking classes, view the menu, and obtain location and contact information for the bakery. To create a website that meets the needs of the audience, I created a homepage with navigation to the menu options, contact information, and an events page complete with an online form for the baking classes. The website is compatable with mobile devices and can be viewed on-the-go for customer convenience.

Defense of the Final Product

Throughout the entire website, the header, footer, headings, borders and centered text are all standard which adds to the consistency of the site. For the header and footer, a sans-serif font is used. For the body, a serif font is standard throughout the entire website. I also created a logo to make the website look more professional.
Home Page
The design choices for the homepage were centered around making things look simple but attractive. The brown and green of the logo is mirrored in the border of the header and footer, as well as the navigation bar. The large photos for each section heading splits up each section and adds to the aesthetics. Each section provides a description and link the the supporting pages.
Events Page
For the Events page, a list of upcoming classes on the top of the page and is followed by a form to sign up for a baking class. I added a photo alongside the baking class list to add more to this page than just text. The list of baking classes is intentionally placed before the sign-up form so that customers know which classes to pick from the drop-down menu of the form.
Menu Page
The menu page, like the home page, is sectioned off with large photos for each type of baked good. A table is located in each section with the menu items, pricing, and a description. The page consists of the photos, headings, and the table for the products and pricing. The simplicity of the menu page makes it easier for customers to find what they are looking for.
Contact Us Page
The Contact Us page, like the other supporting pages, is very simple and lists the address, phone number, and email along with a picture for the bakery. The headings for each type of contact are bold so that, when a customer is looking for specific contact information, it is easier to find that section. I added a photo to make the page more compelling as opposed to simple text.

Opportunities for improvement and Growth

Overall, the Blind Grove Baking Co. website is very simple. If I had more knowledge, time, and resources, I would have liked to have put in a slideshow of photos from the bakery on the home page as opposed to just one large photo for each section. I would have also liked to have styled the headings a little more, specifically on the menu and contacts page so there is less white space. Lastly, I would have liked to learn more about how to make my code cleaner and how to code for a professional environment.
