transcription is the process of producing reports from the dictation by
medical providers. Doctors,
physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other healthcare providers
dictate patient visits, medical procedures, laboratory results and
analysis, letters and other reports that must be transcribed and will
become part of the patient’s medical record.
It is the job of the medical transcriptionist to transcribe these
dictations, turning each dictated report into an accurate document that
conforms to the needs of the healthcare provider and meets industry
standards.
