| 09/07/04 Our first day of school with everyone went really smoothly today. Some friends worked on decorating their work folders or their nametags for their work drawers. We had a lot of friends enjoying making bracelets, using pipe cleaners and beads. Others were using the metal frames to draw and color shapes. In circle, we learned the name of our new friends. Everyone also got a nice bag with their name on it for their change of clothes. We also learned to 'freeze' when the classroom bell rings. A few reminders: - Everyone will have lunch at school this week. Please make sure to give your child a lunch box that will include 2 napkins and some silverware. - Please make sure to bring slippers/indoor shoes and a change of clothes for your child Last but not least, we would like to thank the LoDato family for their gift of a microwave over to our classroom. 09/08/04 Our second day of school went very well. We were unable to go to the playground because of the rain so we spent some extra time in the classroom, reading some books, doing some yoga, going on a bear hunt, etc. We also got invited to Miss Megan & Miss Fran's classroom for a dance session of "stop-go". For snack, we had some corn chips. Starting tomorrow, we will all be having lunch in Miss Megan's classroom as we are hoping this will help for a smoother transition to the pick-up line and to the afternoon program. As requested, here is our current wish list: A mini-refrigerator A couple of beta fish A dust buster A small table that could be used as a desk 09/10/04 Well, we have all made it through our first (short) week of school. This morning, friends were busy working with the Spindle Box, the Sandpaper Letters and Tweezing Pompoms. We also went all the way to the Shaw Park and met up with Miss Megan and Miss Fran's classroom over there. In circle, we read a book about fishes and talked about the new friends (the beta fish!) that will be arriving in our classroom next week. For snack, we had rice crackers. At the end of the day, our friends took home the work they did over the week in their work folders (some of you might find a lot of cutting works in there!!!). Can you please remind your child to bring the folder back to school on Monday. See you all tomorrow at our school picnic! 09/09/04 Today we had a very busy morning: some friends were working with the long red rods, while others were working with the metal shapes or the fancy fish puzzles. For snack, we had roasted plantains. We all had lunch in Miss Megan and Miss Fran's classroom which gave everyone the opportunity to make new friends. A few reminders: - Please write your child's name on his/her clothes whenever possible - we already have some clothes in our classroom that do not seem to belong to anyone! - Our school family picnic will take place on Saturday September 11 @ 11:30 am at the Elm Bank's Weezie's Garden for Children. We are hoping to see you all there! 09/13/04 Our second week of school started very smoothly this morning. In circle, we read the book Little Fish Lost by Nancy Van and met with our brand new friend Nelson! We also practiced walking slowly and carefully on the line so that we could safely walk all together to the playground. Some popular works were the Red Knobless Cylinders Box, the Spindle Box and the infamous Cutting Work. For snack, we had some rice crackers. Thank you so much for remembering to bring the work folders back to school! We also would like to thank the Green and Hammer families for their gift of beta fishes, and the Quinn family for their gift of a dustbuster and a mini refrigerator for our classrooms. One more item on our wishlist: a small CD player! |
