We had a very busy day today. We started our morning with Miss Zouhaida's Spanish class. We sang "Como Te Llamas" to everyone, counted and practiced our colors.
In circle, we looked at a beautiful turtle's carapace that Miss Megan let us borrow. We also talked about the different parts of the turtle such as the head, the limbs, the tail, the plastron, and the claws. Afterwards, friends could choose to make their very own book about the different parts of a turtle.
A large bowl of small beads also fell on the floor in our classroom and gave us the opportunity to have a group lesson on Cleaning Up a Large Dry Spill.
For snack, we had rice crackers.
Note to the parents:
- The school will be closed on Friday 1 October for our first Teachers In-Service Day. This day will be used to put many new works on our shelves in all areas of the classroom. Therefore, work folders will be sent home on Thursday - please remind your child to bring his/her folder back to school.
- Please look in your child's backpack/lunchbox for an envelope with some info on our upcoming leader days (Sheila -I will give you yours tomorrow morning).

Today we had a birthday celebration for our friend Jacquelyn who turned three years old over the summer. Her parents Pam and Joseph LoDato came to participate to her birthday walk and shared with us pictures and stories. In honor of Jacquelyn's birhtday, they donated the book Mister Seahorse, by Eric Carle to our school.
During worktime, friends were working with the Ocean Life/Non Ocean Life work, Pouring Beads and Hole Punching.
We also went downstairs to use Miss Elizabeth play area (on the ground floor of the Treehouse building) so we could play and dance since it was too wet to go to the playground.
In circle, we read the book One Tiny Turtle, by Nicola Davies.
For snack, we had rice crackers.

Today was a very busy day for everyone in our classroom! We started the day with a visit from Miss Ellen and sang many songs about the colors of the rainbow.
We talked about our upcoming leader days again as everyone is so excited about being the Leader of the Classroom very soon.
We also had a fire drill : we talked about what an alarm is and how if we ever heard it in our classroom, we would have to quietly line up at the door, walk down the stairs carefully and quietly and cross the parking lot to the playground in our sleepers. Everyone did an amazing job!
As there will be no school tomorrow, children took their work folders home today. Please invite your child to explain what all the work is and remind him/her to bring his/her empty folder back to school on Monday.
Also, our schools PA and staff have been working really hard to put together some fun events for all of our families:
Friday 1 October: All-School Apple Picking (meet at 10:15am in front of the school)
Saturday 2 October: Day at the Lake!
Monday 4 October: Newcomers Tea! (More info was sent home today with your childs folder)
