| 10/26/04 Bonjour! Today we started our day with a circle. We did some yoga altogether and then introduced a new bathroom procedure. From now on, we will have a new special bathroom necklace in the class. This way only one friend is out of the room at a time and the waiting stool is in the classroom as well. It went wonderful. We think friends may have went just to wear the necklace! We also had our very first bookmobile visit. First, we were read the story Mouse's First Halloween, by Lauren Thompson. Then we went to the bookmobile that was stationed right in front of our school and each chose one book. All the friends were so excited to see this big truck with so many books inside. After spending some time on the playground, we had Spanish with Miss Zouhaida. For Show-n-Tell, Sruti brought in some beautiful maple leaves from her garden and told her friends so many things about them, like how she brought in 4 leaves because she is going to be 4 years old really soon! Note to Parents: One more day before the Potluck Dinner. In case you have not found a baby-sitter yet, please let me know as I know someone who has a wonderful background and who might be interested... First come, first served! Also, the McCarthy family has asked me to let you know that they are Red Sox Fans and they will definitely have the game on Wednesday night during the festivities! 10/27/04 Today we started our day reading the book Wanted - Best Friend by A.M. Monson and talked about what it means to be a friend and about how we can build friendships by being nice and helpful to all of our friends at school. During worktime, friends were very busy choosing works such as Parts of an Apple, the Blue Triangle Box and the Magnet Work. For her leader day, Jacquelyn brought in some clementines and we took them to the playground for everyone to share over there. For her Show-n-Tell, she brought in a drum and explained to everyone how it was so precious to her and that she preferred friends to just look at it with their eyes. Reminder to parents: During this seasonable weather, please dress your children in layers so that they can be comfortable in both warm and cold situations. Thank you! See you all tonight at our classrooms' potluck dinner. Have a great rest of the day! 10/28/04 Good afternoon, Today friends started their day choosing works around the classroom. Popular choices were Scrubbing the Pumpkin, Hole Punching the Eyes and the Mouth of the Pumpkin, and the Tee Work. We then had music with Miss Ellen and sang a lot of songs about Halloween. Miss Ellen had brought a lot of accessories for her songs and everyone had a lot of fun! For his Leader Day, Jake shared a little train and a mini car that he got from the toy store at his home Thank you to all the parents who participated to our Potluck Dinner last night. I hope that you all had a wonderful evening of great food and entertaining conversations (not to mention the red sox game!). 10/29/04 Today was a very fun day for everyone at the Treehouse! We started our day with work time and friends chose works such as Scrubbing the Pumpkin, Hammering Nails or Numerals and Counters. Then, we went to visit Miss Megan and Miss Frans classroom and had a really big circle in the shape of an ellipse. We brought our big pumpkin along and sang songs while Miss Fran carved the pumpkin and turned it into a great Jack-O-Lantern! Then friends took a walk around the building, pretending to be flying or dancing pumpkins! We sang some more songs together and talked about what we were all going to be for Halloween. To wrap up our morning, we had a picnic in the middle of our classroom and almost everyone was able to independently open up their own lunches, set up, eat and tidy up. Note to parents: The Leader Day Calendar for November is in your childs work folder. School is closed Monday and Tuesday For Parents Teachers Conferences Have a great Halloween! |
