T
oday we started our day with a circle, taking turn holding the Sharing Heart and sharing stories of our weekend with our friends.
Then we had a visit by Ed McGuire, Andrew's dad, who helped us making applesauce. Everyone had a turn washing their apple and removing the core. We added sugar, lemon and cinammon and baked everything in the microwave. We then placed the applesauce in little containers with a nice little label on it! You will find it in your child's lunch box! Have a great week!

Today we started our day with the book Harvest Song by Ron Hirschi that Miss Jessica read to us. We also talked about the delicious homemade applesauce that all the friends brought back home yesterday in their lunch box.
We also had a very busy work time, with friends choosing so many different works in the classroom such as Tweezing Bunnies, Hammering Nails or Drawing on the Easel. We then went downstairs to the play area as it was just too wet for us to go to the playground.
We came back upstairs just in time to join Miss Zouhaida' Spanish class:  we practiced our colors through leaves and learned Halloween words such as calabazas - pumpkins!!!
It was also Phillip's Leader Day and he was so happy to lead the line and ring the bell in our classroom. Tomorrow will be Sam's Leader Day! Finally, Julene, the bookmobile lady came to read us a book during lunchtime.

Today we started our day with a circle and did the Air/Land/Water Work altogether. Then each friend went to choose a quiet work in the classroom. Popular choices were the Indian Corn Kernels Work, the Clay Work and the Calendar Work. For snack, Sam brought some blueberries and some kiwis to share. For Show-n-Tell, he brought in some pictures that he was very excited to tell all of his friends about.

10/22/04

We started our day with Clare's Show-n-Tell: she brought in some Indian Corns and friends were very excited to ask her questions such as "where did you find it?" "are they real or pretend?" "can we eat them?". After singing our morning song, we talked about how we were all friends and how we wanted to use our kind words and our nice messages all the time so that we would not break our friends' spirit (you might want to ask your child to sing the song for you and to tell you all about our spirits). As it was raining outside, we went downstairs to spend some time in the playroom. For snack, we had rice crackers.
Note to parents: Work folders are going home today. Please remind your child to bring it back on Monday!

10/25/04
Today our friends were so excited when they walked in a newly redesigned classroom. Shelves and tables have moved around to better accomodate our daily flow. We first had a circle and a group lesson on Parts of the Apple. During worktime, friends choose works suck as Lacing and Tracing Farm Animals and Sandpaper Numerals.
It was Lily's Leader Day and she brought in a skeleton for her Show-n-Tell. It was so amazing to see her explain to her friends the different parts of the skeleton, showing them the hips on the skeleton and on her body, and inviting them to feel their spine by placing their hands on their back. She also brought in some bananas to share with her friends and we all had snack together on the playground.
Note to the parents:
