| 11/22/04 Happy Monday! Today was a fun day in our classroom! In our very first circle of the day, we talked about Thanksgiving and read the book the Story of Thanksgiving by Nancy J. Skarmeas. We talked about our upcoming Thanksgiving celebration: the Pilgrims (Miss Sarah and Miss Jennifer's friends!) have invited us (the Indians!) for a Thanksgiving lunch tomorrow in their classroom! We made some beautiful centerpieces to bring along and will work on our costumes tomorrow morning! For her leader day, Sruti brought some oranges to share with her friends and read the book Today I Feel Silly: And Other Moods That Make My Day by Jamie Lee Curtis. Finally, we kept on using our counting jars to count how many days we have been coming to school so far: today was the 50th day of school! Note to parents: Folders went home today as we had a lot of great information to share with you. Please remind your child to bring the folders back to school tomorrow! 11/23/04 Hello all! Today was our Thanksgiving celebration with Miss Sarah and Miss Jennifer's classroom. We made headbands with colorful feathers and walked over to the clubhouse. Our lunch went so very smoothly! It was a wonderful time for everyone! For her Show-n-Tell, Lily brought a globe. We also had a visit from the Book mobile and chose some new books. Have a very happy and safe Thanksgiving!! See you all Monday! 11/29/04 Good evening, Everyone seemed very excited to be back at school today and we had a very long and busy morning. Friends chose to work with the Number Rods, the Movable Alphabet, the Spindle Box, and the Pink Tower. We missed our friend Clare and hope that she will soon be back with us. In circle, we read the book Benny: An Adventure Story by Bob Graham. We also took turn sharing stories about our Thanksgiving celebrations. For snack, Jacquelyn brought some strawberries and prepared the entire snack table for her friends. Note to parents: The December Leader Calendar will be sent home tomorrow. Just so you know: Dec. 1 - Phillip Dec. 2 - Clare Dec. 3 - Andrew Also, please let me know if you would like to come in and share your family traditions with the children. Whether it is reading a story, making a craft, cooking, or even sharing pictures of your holiday celebration as a child! It is so much fun for everyone to learn about how different families celebrate the holiday season. 11/30/04 Good afternoon, Today was another busy day in the treehouse! Many new works made their way into our classroom and friends were asking for lessons on Cleaning a Fine Dry Spill, The Smelling Presents, Pouring Beans, and the Mystery Bag. Then we had a visit from our neighbor the Dentist! She brought in some big fake teeth with a big toothbrush and demonstrating for everyone how to brush one's teeth. She talked about how important it was to brush our teeth both in the morning and at night. Most importantly, she explained that even if so many of our friends were big enough to brush their teeth by themselves, they should still always ask their mom or dad to help them brush to make sure to prevent plaque and cavities. All of our friends were also given a toothbrush to take home (you will find it in your childs lunchbox). For show-n-tell, Jake brought in an electric keyboard. He also brought bananas to share with his friends. Note to parents: Please look for the December Leader Calendar in your childs lunchbox or backpack! |
