The children have been very busy working with the Practical Life area this morning, choosing works such as Pressing Sponges, Cleaning a Fine Dry Spill or Sponge Squeezing. Little by little, we are incorporating water works into our routine and the children are learning to always use an apron and to make sure that the work and the table are really clean and dry for other friends.
In circle, we took attendance and the children were invited to greet everyone in English, French or Spanish. We are hoping to learn greetings in Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Italian, etc. in the future. We also read the book When We Grow Up by Anne Rockwell.
Miss Rebecca came for a visit and read the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom to some of the children while the others were setting up our classroom with formal lunch. We dimmed the light and put some Chopin on and pretended to be in a restaurant.
For snack, we ate strawberries.
Note to parents:
Miss Megan and I have decided to offer our children and their parents an opportunity to order from the Scholastic Book Club. Scholastic is the largest publisher and distributor of childrens books in the United States. The scholastic catalog will be sent home today. Please take a moment to look over the flyer. If you decide to order, please return your order form and payment by Monday 6 December.

Today was our friend Clare's 4th birthday! Her parents Sheila and Kevin came to join us for her birthday walk and shared stories about Clare when she was 1, 2, 3 and now 4. Clare brought in some bananas to share with her friends.
Then we had our weekly visit from Miss Ellen and sang some great holiday songs! Afterward, we decided to go spend some time on the playgroud with Miss Megan and Fran's classroom. To make up for yesterday, we stayed there for a very long time and had the chance to enjoy both the Discovery Garden Playground and the Clubhouse Playground.
Reminders for Parents are..
We are now accepting donations for our community reach out program for the holidays.  Now until Dec 15th, give unwrapped donations to your child's teachers .  We are accepting toys and clothing for girls and boys ages 7+.  Thank you.

The Tasting Tray, a brand new work brought to our classroom by Miss Jessica, was a very popular choice this morning. All the children wanted to have a turn and they would patiently wait for their turn while observing the one friend who was doing the work.
For snack, Andrew brought some carrots. For his show-n-tell, he brought a puzzle of the United States of America and explained to his classmates where everyone he knew was from.
During circle, we learned some new yoga poses and listen to some yoga music. We also talked about our food sharing basket and invited the friends to bring a non-perishable item on their Leader Day (or on any other day)!
After spending some time on the playground, we had a picnic in our classroom.
Note to parents: The December newsletter is being sent home today! Please have a look at the Treehouse page that your child's teachers put together for you.  You will find info on our monthly curriculum and other activites that will be going on in our classrooms over the next couple of weeks.

The children were really happy to be back at school today and so many of them spent the entire morning working and singing Christmas tunes such as "Jingle Bell" or "Rudolph, The Red Nose Reindeer". It was really cute!
We now have a lot of space for rug works and friends took advantage of it choosing works such as the Movable Alphabet, the Pink Tower or the Continent Map.
For his leader day, Sam brought in some pears and a bird nest that he found next to his big bush! :)
