| 11/09/04 Today was a very happy and busy day in the classroom. We had TWO birthday celebrations! We started our day with Sruti's birthday walk. Her mom Rama joined us and shared pictures of Sruti. We then spent some time on the playground and came back to have Sam's birthday celebration. His mom also joined us and shared pictures of Sam from birth, 1, 2, 3 and now 4. For his Show-n-Tell, Sam brought a mobile that he made with sticks and pine cones for our peace corner. He also gave the book The Umbrella by Jan Brett to our classroom and the children had a very special treat: Nancy (Sam's mom) read a few pages in our circle. For snack, we had apples and bananas. We also had Spanish with Miss Zouhaida and learned about community helpers. During our very last circle, we talked about how we were going to have formal lunch tomorrow Wednesday. We looked at our brand new tableclothes and plates and all the children were so excited! Note to parents: On formal lunch days, your child will not need to have placemats, napkins or silverwares in his/her lunchbox! Enjoy the break! During outside time today some children said there hands were cold. We think that it may be time to send in hats and gloves on the cold days so we stay warm outside. 11/10/04 Good afternoon, Today was another busy day in our classroom! We all sat down around our brand new yoga corner and receive a lesson on how to unroll and roll the yoga mat, on the yoga poses cards, and we talked about how when a friend would chose to be in the yoga corner, he/she would know to keep his/her voice inside his/her body. For her leader day, Jacquelyn brought in some pears to share with her friends. We also practiced freezing as soon as the bell rang so that everyone could hear the leader's message! Our friend Kyra from Miss Sarah & Miss Jennifer's classroom came to spend some time with us. We also had a visit from Miss Rebecca who will now join our classroom every Wednesday and will help with formal lunch. She read the book I'm Sorry by Sam McBratney and helped us as we were setting up the tableclothes, the formal lunch plates, and the silverware. We dimmed the lights and pretended to be in a very fancy restaurant! Have a good Veterans' Day tomorrow and see you all on Friday! 11/12/04 Today was another busy day in our classroom. We missed our friends Sruti and Jake and had a couple of visitors from Miss Megan and Miss Fran's classroom. We had a really long work time, with friends making great work choices such as the Blue Knobless Cylinders, the Leaf Rubbing Work and the Tying Frame. In circle, we had a group lesson on the Continent, using the Continent Map and the Globe. We also leaned the Continent Song and played the Continent Game. After some more work time, we went to the playground. For lunch, we ate Smart Puffs. Note to parents: Your child's folder was sent home today! Please remind him/her to bring it back on Monday. Please write your child's name on all of his clothes - hats, mittens (both of them!), jackets, pants, underwear, etc. We already have a few pieces of clothing without an owner to give them back to and as friends are bringing more and more clothes to school, we really need to be able to know who they belong to. THANKS! 11/15/04 Good afternoon, Today was a very busy Monday. We started our day with a circle and read the book A Fish Out of Water by Helen Palmer. We then had worktime, with friends choosing works such as the Continent Map, the First Sound Box, and the Yoga Corner. We also went to the park and enjoyed making a big snowman with Miss Megan and Miss Fran's classroom. For snack, we ate pears. Note to parents: - We will go play in the snow whenever the weather will permit: please make sure your child brings mittens, hat, snow boots and snow pants to school so that he/she can enjoy the outdoor time. |
