In our first circle of the day, we showed a new work on how friends could make their own book all about snowflakes. We then went to Miss Megan's circle for our music class. All of the children really enjoy singing and it is so cute to see them move their upper body around while sitting down.
Back in our classroom, we had a very busy work time. Friends were working with the Number Rods, the Triangle Box, the Dissolving Salt work, etc.
For snack, we had grapes. For her show-n-tell, Clare brought in the book The Salamander Room by Anne Mazer. We later read it in the afternoon classroom and everybody got a turn at telling us about their bed and their bedroom.

Today we started our day with Sam's show-n-tell: a music CD! We listened to a couple of songs in the classroom and the children loved it so much that we decided to take our CD player down to the indoor playspace so that we could all dance -even Miss Megan's classroom joined us.
We had some visitors again today: Bridhid and Joshua came to spend the morning with us as a few teachers are sick in the clubhouse building.
During work time, friends chose to work with the Number Rods, the Continent Map, and the Decimal Cards. Also M.A. (Drew's mom from Miss Megan's Classroom) brought in lovely Daffodils for us to do some flower arranging. If anyone would like to bring flowers we love to have that work out.
During circle, we also talked about the Continents and friends will be working on making their own book of the Seven Continents. For snack, we had pears!

After all that snow, today was our first day back into our routine. Thanks to the school closing, I have been able to go buy new shelves (and plenty of other great things!) for our classroom. I want to thank Sam Brown (Lily's father from Miss Sarah's classroom) for carrying them up to the classroom and for putting them together! Those shelves are now the home of our brand new bank game & 45 layout materials, a very exciting donation from the O'Boyle/McGuire family (Andrews parents)! Thank you, thank you, thank you! The children were very excited when they walked in the classroom this morning and many asked for lessons on those brand new activities.
Please feel free to stop by and have a look at all the new activities in our classroom before or after school. You can even invite your child to give you a lesson on her/his favorite works. For his Leader Day, Jacob brought a little lantern for his Show-n-Tell and some grapes for snack.

Today we had a very busy morning. Many friends chose to receive lessons on the Decimal Cards, the Decimal Materials and the Bank. Other friends chose to work with the Numbers Puzzle, the Dissolving Blue Salt work and the Scooping Bells work. In circle, we read the book Storm is Coming by Heather Tekavec.
For snack, we had bananas. Please make sure to check your child's folder for lots of great info!

In circle we discussed our upcoming International Festival Month!  We will be researching and learning about the country India during the month of February.  We invited all the children to participate at home with you and find out whatever they can about this different culture.  You can use the library, the Internet, contacts and recipes to investigate the many differences.  The children were challenged to bring in some information about India for show and tells during next couple of weeks.... Have FUN! Details about the festival and evening for parents were published in the last Newsletter.
We also read the book Corduroy by Don Freeman.
Note to parents: The Leader Day calendar for the month of February went home today. Please look for it in your child's lunchbox or backpack!
