First I would like to thank you all for sending your child to school in their snow gears.   Sadly, it was raining a bit too hard for us to go outside (as per the school's policy). Still, this new schedule has been working wonderfully for our classroom as the children end up having a longer work time. Therefore, I would like to keep on trying to get to the playground at 8:45 am, right at the end of drop-off. If you enter the parking lot later than 8:45 am, you can easily park your car and walk your child to the playground. Thanks so much!
Today we started our day with a circle and talked about how much we like our beautiful classroom and all the works on our shelves. We also talked about how important it was to always put works back where we found them. We also talked about how friends always needed to be very respectful of everything in our classroom so that we could keep all of the beautiful works with us.
During work time, many friends chose works from the Language shelf (Tracing Names, Sandpaper Letters and Sand tray), the Sensorial Shelf (the Mystery Bag, the Monomial & the Binomial Cube), the Geography Shelf (making a continent book) and the Math shelf (the Number Rods, the Number Cards). It was a great time for everyone!
For snack, we had pears. We also had formal lunch (thank you to the Greene and the Quinn family for washing our dishes and our tablecloths so often -if anyone else would like to volunteer, the sign-up sheet is by the front door of our building).

Today we started our morning on the playground. Back in our classroom, we had a group lesson on the Touch Tablets. The children have also been practicing making a really nice circle all by themselves while I would keep my eyes closed (and my ears wide open!!). During circle time, friends kept on chosing works from all areas of the classroom. For snack, we had blueberries and grapes. For Show-n-Tell, Jacquelyn share a star-shaped box filled with sea shells.

Today we started our day with a circle and finished reading the book Our Peaceful Classroom by Aline Wolf. During work time, friends chose to work with the Continents Map, the Dissolving Salt work, and the snow flakes work. For snack, we had apples. For show-n-tell, Jacob share a placemat with the solar system on it and told us about all the different planets. I wish you all a great long weekend! See you on Tuesday!

We worked a lot with books today! During our first circle, we read the book At the Laundromat by Christine Loomis and found a lot of different rhyming words. Then we went to the bookmobile and picked out books. Back in our classroom, Miss Jolene read us the book Rhinos don't Climb. During work time, children were busy with works such as Grating Soap, Pressing Sponges, and Basting Water. Miss Zouhaida also came to our classroom for our Spanish lesson. For Show-n-Tell, Phillip brought the book This is Paris.  For snack, we had cheddar bunnies.

Today was the 80th day of school! We started our day with a circle and read the book Planet Earth Inside Out by Gail Gibbons. We talked about our planet Earth, the seven continents and the oceans. We also sang the Continent Song and friends even chose a coloring work of the Continent Song afterward. We missed our friend Sruti and hope that she will soon be back with us.
It was really cold outside but thankfully we were able to walk down to our indoor space to play around. We also had formal lunch. For snack, we had grapes.
Note to parents: It seems like we have the croup as well as seasonal colds going around in our school.  If your child is complaining of sore throats, has a stubborn cough, or a fever you may want to take them in to see the pediatrician.  Hopefully we will all be feeling back to normal sometime soon. For more information on how to detect croup, please visit the following website:  http://kidshealth.org/parent/infections/bacterial_viral/croup.html
