There are 3 main ways to use Technology in Assisting Exceptional Pupils:

1.
To assist students in developing skills they lack
2.
To supplement the skills they have or make up for skills they lack
3.
To assist the teacher with tracking and programming

Tracking and Programming

Many programs in common use can be used for tracking and program preparation. A database or a spreadsheet can record individual activities and achievements, and a word processor can collect and store anecdotal information and produce reports. The Peel Board has developed the IEP Engine program to help in the construction of IEPs. This involves FileMaker Pro layouts which offer choices of strengths, weaknesses, goals and strategies to be selected and added to a file for each student.
