The July campout is scheduled for the Lazy L RV Park in Sherman. But at this time we do not have enough people signed up to go. Please call Kenneth or James no later than June 19th if you plan to attend.  If we do not have enough, the campout will be canceled.  Kenneth can arrange for a chapter lunch in town somewhere. That way those in and around town will have a chance to get together and socialize and catch up on the latest news.

Please don't delay so that Kenneth will have time to make arrangements.  The Calling Committee will let all know what has been decided no later than the 26th of June.

On a sad note, Almarie Hardy, a former member of the Mesquite-ers died on May 28th after a long illenss. Lori and I went to the wake and spent a few minutes with WD. He is doing well and had many family members with him.

From the June Meeting:

Those attending the Campout in Duncan were: Jenna & Russell Bradley, Norma & Emit Davis, James Kellett, Bud Love, Marilyn & Paul Lucas, Kenneth Martin, Margaret & George Moss, Elsa & Lee Rankin, Inez & Blackie Sanders, Cindy & Scott Sebaly, Zona & Dale Thurman, Lori & Jim Wise and Cathy & John Zinn. Melba & Arvie Waldrop stopped in for the meeting and stayed until mid afternoon on Saturday. Arvie is feeling better, but keep him in your prayers.

We are preparing a Flyer to advertise the Chapter - and hopefully draw new members. If you have friends who have an RV and don’t belong to a chapter—invite them to a campout.

Ann and Alton Taylor are now Associate Members. We’ll see them around sometimes, but they won’t be camping with us.

We have “30th Anniversary” Rockers for your vest. If you don’t have one yet, call Cathy Zinn. They are $5 each.

We have given away almost all of our Charity Fund and now we need to raise some more money. Start thinking of things we can do!

We restarted the drawing for $10 to give to a member - with the provision that they be at the campout on Friday evening. The winners this month were Glenn & Vicky Schachar. Since they were not there, the drawing at the next campout will be for $20.

And keep both Eddie and Earlene Miller in your prayers. They are both having problems. And also pray for Eileen Fretz, she is suffering from ALS (Lou Gehrig Disease)

Travlin’ News:

A lot of members are heading to Colorado and that’s the main reason we did not have enough folks camping here in July. The Bradley’s, Lucas’s and Zinn’s will be enjoying the cooler weather there. Lori and I are headed east to No. & So. Carolina, NY and Kentucky.

Dale and Zona Thurman are headed to the Davis Mountains in the Big Bend area. And they made 5 of the area Samborees this spring. That’s a lot of driving.

Rose and Marion Millender are back from a trip to Japan and China. I’d like to hear more about that trip. She said China is BIG; and they rode the “bullet train” in Japan and the magnetic train in Shanghai, which got to 431 kilometers/hr—that’s over 230 mph.

Don't miss out!

Cathy Zinn will place a 1-time order for the commemorative patch shown here, for the Mesquite-ers 30th Anniversary. The patch measures 4 1/2 by 5 inches and will cost $5.10.  If you want one or more, please call Cathy [(940) 631-1948 & leave message if no answer] by the end of July.

It seems someone needed a haircut and a good samaritan (a Good Sam) helped out.

The only problem was that a volunteer’s work is not always rewarded the way we think. People just lined up for haircuts!

Actually the only  other person who got a haircut was Inez.
