MSP 2004 RULES
POINT SYSTEM
You get a point for picking a winner. You lose a point for picking a loser.
Each week you must also make a Pick of the Week Selection, which is worth 2 or -2 points.  If you forget to enter a POW (pick of the week), the default on the new pick sheet is the Monday Night Football game.
You must pick only a minimum of 4 games, but there is no maximum. However, one of your selections must be Monday Night FootballIf you do not select the Monday Night Football game, you will be assigned a loss for the game and lose one point.
Ties against the spread are a wash, and players receive 0 points for such games.
IF YOU DO NOT TURN IN YOUR PICKS BY 10:00 PM on the day prior TO THE 1ST KICKOFF OF THE WEEKEND, YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY LOSE 2 POINTS AND YOUR POW FOR THE WEEK.  IF PICKS ARE NOT TURNED PRIOR TO 1ST KICKOFF, THAT PLAYER WILL GET THE TOTAL POINTS EQUAL TO THAT WEEK'S WORST INDIVIDUAL SCORE OR -5 POINTS, WHICHEVER IS LOWER!!!
Many weeks will have a tie for 1st (and any) place. In that event, the following tie-breakers come into play:
1st tiebreaker: Pick of the Week
2nd tiebreaker: Monday Night Football
If there is still a tie for a week's prize after these two tiebreakers, that week's prize is split among those still tied.
POW and MNF are the tiebreakers for the Season to Date standings as well. For STD standings though there are additional tiebreakers as follows: Number of Weeks Won, latest week's POW performance, two week's ago POW performance, three week's ago POW performance, etc...latest week's MNF performance, two week's ago MNF performance, etc. (Tiebreakers come into play often, and performance in your 'POW's and Monday Night can be crucial because of this.)

PRIZES

There are weekly prizes for the top point-getters in a given week, as well as prizes for the Top 4 finishers of the Regular Season.
The Top 12 Regular Season finishers get into the playoffs (The top 4 get byes), in competition for Super Bowl champion and runner-up prizes through a tournament of head-to-head competition.
Prizes are based on percentages of the total pool.  The commissioner will take $15 from the total pool to cover the cost of payment of prizes (Yes, I will also ante $50 but will take a few bucks for handling prize payouts, Paypal fees, etc.).  The prizes for 2004 are as follows (based on 31 entries with a free entry for the previous year's Super Bowl Champion and discounts for bringing new players to the pool )

Weekly Prize ($30 x 17 weeks) - $510
1st Place ($500)                         $500
2nd Place ($125)                        $125
3rd Place ($75)                            $75
4th Place ($40)                            $40
Super Bowl Runner Up                  $25
Super Bowl $100                        $100

Total                                       $1,375

Note: Commissioner Fee        $0

The more participation we get, the bigger the prizes!!!
COST
The cost for everyone is $50.  The only freebie for this league is gained by winning the prior season's Super Bowl, who for this season is the Big Red.
Players may use an alias name (as most players do) instead of a real name to avoid clashes with the IRS, your bookie, your wife (or husband), whatever.  It is okay to use your real name if you wish.  Try to keep the same names from year to year so that long term rivalries can develop.
MAKING PICKS
Every week, spreads will be provided to players on Tuesday of each week on the league website at: http://geocities.com/mspnfl2002 . Players can link to the pick sheet for that week.  Fill in the pick sheet making sure that you type your alias name in the "Name" box, pick 4 games, a POW and the Monday Night Football winner before pressing the "Submit Picks" button.  If you want to get email confirmation of your picks, enter the email address that you would like to receive your picks in the "Confirmation E-mail" box.  This is optional.  You will also have the option to view the picks for "Air Jordan" and "Lizzie Bear" who make their selections prior to the official lines being published (normally no later than Tuesday 11:30 PM).
This is the ONLY way picks will be accepted!!!!!.   I will make exceptions for very good reasons but WILL NOT TYPE IN YOUR PICKS on a normal basis.  If you can't work the weekly pick form, email me at [email protected].  If you can't work the sheet, you probably shouldn't be in the pool.
Picks must be received by 10:00 pm the night prior to the 1st kickoff of the week to avoid penalties!!!!!
