MEDICAL TEAM

The medical team brought with them prescription medicine, medical supplies, and other medical equipment - most of which was donated!  They were prepared to do physicals for as many children as they could, and their biggest task was to make the clinic at Jerusalem functional.

This was the "examining room" at Sophie's Place.   Mike Bowen, Mary Crowder, and Kelley Kaczorwoski spent hours giving many of the children physicals.

Fixing up the Clinic at Jerusalem...

One of the goals of the trip was to make the existing clinic functional - that entailed going through the stacks of boxes of old medicine and medical supplies, throwing out the junk, and making room for all of the supplies we brought with us.  In these pictures, Sharon Findlay, Ellen Walker, Stacey Pinney and Kelley Kaczorwoski are right in the middle of the mess.

Mustard Seed hopes to use the clinic on an active basis if residents from the local hospitals or visiting medical staff can work there on a regular schedule to provide greatly needed medical care for the children.

Mandy Slater spent much of her time giving physicals to the children of Jerusalem and organizing the clinic.

Teaching the staff on proper medical care was another goal.   Here, Mariann Lannon and Sharon Findlay teach CPR to some of the caregivers.

ENGINEERING TEAM

The engineering team had little idea about what would be needed of them on this trip, so they brought a bunch of tools and a lot of enthusiasm for whatever tasks were ahead.  By the end of the week, their resumes included plumbing, concrete pipe laying, and carpentry skills!

Teamwork... the important ingredient to moving concrete pipes.

COMPUTER TEAM

The computer team spent time before the trip collecting computer parts and fixing up donated PC's to upgrade some of the computers used by Mustard Seed.   While there, we installed computers (some of them replaced old 486x's they were using), did some hardware and software troubleshooting for the ones that were already there, and helped a few members of the staff learn a little more about some of the  software.   We brought some new software with us, set up some printers, and even set up a computer in the medical clinic.
