Evaluation and improvement of personal skills are very important. Although I have a busy schedule, I incorporate a class or a workshop at least once a year to help me be aware of weak and strong aptitudes and to help me be more active in developing new skills. After transferring to a new school, I needed to reassess my skills once again. I took several assessment test required for my Management 5 class at UC Irvine. After taking the test and making an evaluation of skills developed through school and work for the past year, I am ready to make a new evaluation of myself. In the following paragraphs I will discuss my personal strengths and weaknesses. I will also discuss how I am going to use my stay at UC Irvine to improve my career and managerial readiness. I have developed important skills through school and jobs that require working in groups. I have developed leadership and cultural awareness skills by working with groups of people from diverse backgrounds. My level of global awareness is high because I like to be informed of global events and how companies are working in a global environment. I do not have difficulty in working long hours trying to complete assignments. I perform well under stress and, I am good in keeping group morale under stressful conditions. I relate well with others and I praise people when they put effort in their work. I am also good in correcting behavior and in solving conflicts. I have weaknesses in the area of time management, prioritization and dealing with uncertainty. I do not like to be constricted by schedules but most of the time I find the lack of planning leads me to waste of time and money. I have trouble completing things on time. People under my supervision tend to follow the same pattern of bad time management since they see me as a role model. I also have problems with prioritizing. I do not give priority to the relevant assignments. If I have several assignments I prefer to choose the ones I like or the easiest to complete instead of the important ones. When I am leading people, I tend to lean away from the main objectives if it creates a better working environment. Another weakness is that I do not know how to deal with uncertainty. I lose self-motivation under uncertain conditions. During my stay at UC Irvine, I plan to continue developing leadership, interpersonal skills, cultural and global awareness, and teamwork. I am also planning to develop better self-management techniques to attack my weaknesses. I am looking for jobs that can help me develop skills. I have turned away jobs that pay better but do not provide skills for the long term. I will continue working in supervising groups to develop group dynamics, conflict resolutions and cultural awareness. I also have bought a year planner so I can manage my time efficiently. I will also force myself into completing important projects first.
