Mnchen, Bayern
Munich is my all time-favorite city in the world. I fell in love with the city in 1991 and have been back in '93 and 2000.
As you can see in the title, the city is really named Mnchen. The "" is called an umlaut, which, is obviously not used in the English Language. This causes us to change the name in English. Germans don't like this...it is like changing the name New York to something else. Mnchen is pronounced Meuwnshen.
This is a bird's eye view of the Fugngerzone in Munich. The Fugngerzone is basically a giant shopping district. the streets you see have no cars, pedestrians only. The Fugngerzone starts at the New City Hall (Neues Rathaus) which is the tall builing on the right with the steeple and the lartge space in front of it. The zone then extends to the left, past the Frauenkirche and off the page. It is huge, and a must see!!!!

This is the tower to the Rathaus (city Hall). Note the clock and Glockenspiel. Throughout the day, the Glockenspiel tells a tale with dancing figurines and jousting horses. I love sitting in the foreground (where several restaurants will serve you), drinking a spezi, and watching the Glockenspiel!!!
