Living with Arthritis
Frequently Asked Questions
These are some questions I've either had myself or questions others I know with RA have asked.
1. How does someone get Rheumatoid Arthritis?
A- It is a genetic disease. One can only get it if a blood relative has/had it. Enviornmental factors can trigger it, but that is still unkown.

2. Is Rheumatoid Arthritis contagious?
A- No. You cannot get arthritis from anyone who has it.

3. What are some symptoms?
A- Speaking from experience, at 1st I noticed carpal tunnel-like symptoms in my wrists. Pain in my wrists, making it difficult to pick up & hold things. I also had sharp pains in my ankles, making it  painful to walk. Within a year of my 1st symptoms, I developed RA throughout my entire body. Those symptoms include pain & stiffness when 1st awake in the morning, and throughout the day. It gets worse if I lay or sit down for too long without moving.

4. Does it ever go away?

A- The answer is no. There are now drugs that can help reduce pain & stop any more, if any, joint damage from occuring. But unfortunately, there is no cure.
