So the Gamecube launched in May, and we all know the story, Luigi had his own game but Mario was nowhere to be seen(unless you count trapped in a painting). But luckily the arrival of Super Mario Sunshine should sort out the short fat plumbers from the lanky younger brothers. Thats right, Mario is coming and if the whole of the  game is as good as the E3 demo, hes coming with style! The gameplay is basically the same as Super Mario 64 with a few new touches. The main difference is the water pack on Marios back which can be used to fight oily blobs or used
as a jump pack if the nozzles are tilted down. 'Ok, but what about the graphics?' I hear you cry, well fear screenshots had been pouring in before E3 and, well as you can see to the right>>> they were a bit naff.
But fear not, they are up to a very high standard indeed, and even
Better looking in motion! So what is the plot of the game? Well it all starts with Mario taking a break from Mushroom Kingdom with Princess Peach on a tropical island. Unfortunaely, hefty dollops of polution in the form of oil slicks have been turning up all over the island. To make things even worse, locals have spotted a person who they think is Mario, causing all this mess. Natraully it isnt Mario creating this mess but
a mysterious villan disguised as him trying to frame him. It is up to Mario to catch the villan responsible and get to the bottom of who is behind it once an for all. So, back to the gameplay, what has changed in the last six years? Well for a start, Mario is now wearing a water firing backpack which can be used to clear away he oil slicks and can also be used to make Mario hover in the air for a few seconds if the nozzle is pointed down.
Also, as you have probably already noticed in one of the screens above, our prayers have been answered, Mario can ride Yoshi for the first time since his SNES days! The game is a massive step up from Mario 64 days with some pretty neat effects. For example, when Mario encounters one of these oil slicks he can rum right over it leaving
a trail of footprints which say there untill he clears up the mess. There are way to many effects to list here but lets just say, the water effects are amazing! So, it seems that Nintendo could have craeted yet another classic, role on October!
