| NOTES: The number 500 is appropriate for a highway that connects Daytona Beach to Indianapolis. In addition, it goes through the racing towns of Darlington and Martinsville, as well as Level Cross, North Carolina (the home of NASCAR racing legend Richard Petty!). The number 555 is my number of choice for a New York-to-L.A. route, because those numbers are always the first three digits in fictional telephone numbers. Thank Hollywood for that. The number 666 is my number of choice for a highway that goes through Death Valley, California and Hell, Michigan. In addition, it also goes through the Dallas-Ft. Worth metropolis, which is home to the most hated team in all of professional sports, the NFL's Dallas Cowboys. The number 777 is appropriate for a highway that connects Las Vegas to Atlantic City via Chicago. All three cities have been known as meccas for casino-goers. |
