Post-op Journal 2
Sunday morning- beef broth for breakfast... mmmmmm.  All my meals on Sunday and Monday consisted mostly of broth, watery apple juice, Jell-o, Crystal light, decaf coffee, and popsicles.  And ice chips- don't forget the ice chips.  :)  It's tought to know when I'm full because the liquids leave my stomach pouch pretty quickly.  Oddly enough I haven't really been hungry or craving anything since I got here- which is a good thing!  Even when Thanasi has his meals in my room with me, it doesn't bother me.  Hope it keeps up!  :)  I walked about 4 times on Sunday- cruising around the hallways.  We're right near the maternity ward, but there are never any babies in there (darn that new-fangled thinking of having the babies in the rooms with the mothers!).  The worst part about the walking is the pain I started having in my left side- I don't know what it is, but all of  sudden I noticed it- a real sharp pain in my lower left abdomen area.  The nurses didn't seem to know anything about it, and by Monday it was hurting pretty bad, so Dr. Hargroder came in to check on it, he said it was just a sore muscle or a bruised muscle from the surgery, which makes sense.  But it will take awhile to heal.

Monday I had more broth, Jello, and popsicles.  The pain didn't lessen any, despite the attempts to control it with Demerol and other happy drugs.  I'm tired a lot still, which they say that is normal.  I've been up and walking around twice today, and I got to take a shower which felt absolutely wonderful, despite the JP drain that hung from my body (that was weird).  The nurse removed the bandages this morning, and we discovered two huge blisters from the bandage tape on my abdomen- they don't really hurt, but they're uncomfortable.  The insicions have healed up nicely, and everythign get removed either tomorrow or Wednesday.  Not much coming out of the drain, which they say is a good thing.

Thanasi asked Cindy today about the plane- the seats we had coming here were pretty tiny, and I can't imagine trying to squeeze my tender belly in them now.  She said she would check on things.  :)
