HOMEWORK
Homework is an important part of first grade.  It teaches the students responsibility and gives them a routine.  In first grade, it is important for parents to assist their child with homework and to be there for support. 
Here is an example of the homework schedule:
Monday:
1.Spelling- Write words three times each in your best handwriting in the spelling notebook.
2.Poetry- Glue new poem in poetry notebook. Read at least 3 times.
3.Math worksheet
4.Read 15 minutes and fill in reading log.
Tuesday:
1.Spelling- Put each spelling word into a sentence.
2.Poetry-Draw a picture for the poem of the week and label the pictures.
3.Math worksheet
4.Read 15 minutes and fill in reading log.
Wednesday:
1.Spelling- Put each spelling word into ABC order.
2. Poetry- Read poem and find words in the poem.
3.Math Worksheet.
4.Read 15 minutes and fill in reading log.
Thursday:
1.Spelling-Review words for quiz
2.Writing activity
3.Math worksheet.
4.Read 15 minutes and fill in reading log.
Friday:
1. Read and fill in reading log.
