Aka-con snaps!

Recently, I was ingeniously contacted by a fellow who appears on my other pages for captures from my Anime North videos (his sister also appears there, too). He recently and graciously reciprocated a copy of one of my videos with footage from Aka-con, which is an anime convention all the way out west of me in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This seems to be a nice, casual atmosphere convention, and hopefully a growing one as seen in the footage I got for years 2000 and 2001. I don't know how long Aka-con has existed. I hope it'll continue for some time.

If for some reason you are one of these people who is in a vidcap, I would like some info about you if you do not object. ^_^

Now you can click here to see some snappies from Aka-con 2001!

Let's start off... ^_^

From the opening animation for Aka-con 2000. There are color variations due to how this was shot. I'd love a direct from video attempt to make this look really nice.

A couple of other animation shots and...

This is one of the costume judges in costume. I love this version of Aka-chan, the mascot of Aka-con. I figured the scroll composite snappy was worth 4 singles. ^_^ I did have one other of her rear view, but the one I ended up using was better, so there's one less capture. I wish there was a close up scrolling view to work from, but alas... I don't, and probably the pretty lady in the video is thankful. ^_^;;;

Now onto some of the costumes.. (I grabbed pics of mostly just girls... ^_^)

I don't know the character this girl was dressed as, but I liked the costume very much.

This pair appears later on in the video I got. I recognize Lime on the left, don't know about the surly girl on the right, though she does grab the balloon and pop it. ^_^

A rather nice bunch of kawaii shoujo-tachi! But if I had to pick one...

I'd pick this one. Not because she's dressed as Trunks from DBZ, but she's just simply cute. I think she'd also be able to do a charming Akane-chan from Ranma 1/2.

Now when I first saw this girl appear, I thought "The Erase" card from Card Captor Sakura. But that's not this girl's character... I even compared it with the Clow Card I do have... dare ga desu ka??

At the end of the costume thing (I don't know if they call it a cosplay or masquerade), they had all the entrants back on stage for some reason. These two weren't in any of the video I got except here, when the girl on the right swung her prop the wrong way and something flew off... This is their reaction to that. I wonder if it hit anyone... ^_^;;

Well, part of the reason they had everyone back on stage at the same time was to do some sort of dance thing, have each entrant show their best moves. It seems a few audience members had some moves of their own! (warau!) Get down with your bad self! ^_^

I considered just dropping this single cap left over because I felt it would seem out of place by itself, but I decided showing one of the judges in Asuka's red plug suit from Eva was just so nice. What I didn't know is that the lady is the actual English dub voice person for Asuka. I don't buy English-dubbed anime so I didn't even recognize the voice. :/

end of page.. gomen!
