Aka-con 2001 snaps!

On the same tape I got Aka-con 2000 footage was a few hours of Aka-con 2001. I grabbed about 28 pics off that portion of the tape.

Let's start off again, with the mascot, Aka-chan...

Aka-chan is back and has a whole new look! I liked her costume from last year. Here's a thought... Take her costume from Aka-con 2000 and put it on this lady. ^_^;;

Aka-chan has brought a friend this year, so I'll ignore the change in her costume. ^_^

Oh.. my... goodness.... I was told this girl dressed as a female version of Kuja from Final Fantasy 9. Mmmmm.... I want to know more about her, but you can click the picture for a page of just her... Thanks to whatever forces that be that allowed me to see her and allowed her to exist! kono megami-sama wa utsukushii da zo! Newly discovered video allowed me to add one new pic to her page!

A front and...

a back view of Morrigan from Dark Stalkers aka Vampire Hunters. I've seen this costume appear many times while viewing Japanese cosplay pictures, in many different color variations. This lady looks quite nice. I've yet to see this costume on someone in person.

This looks like a character from the video game Space Channel 5. Her routine was very nice and she must have practiced the dance moves a lot. She played it as her headphone radio was busted and kept picking up different music. Excellent routine.

She's smiling and rightfully so - she won 2 UFO catcher plushies for her routine. omedetou!

She's a cute "Angel of Death" as she says in their routine. I don't recognize the character.

kawaii!! Kitty Sakura-chan!

When I first saw this group, I thought the girl looked like the girl robot in that one part of Robot Carnival, then perhaps the girl in the videogame Deception 2. What I finally found out is that this group is cosplaying as the J-rock band "Malice Mizer", the girl is dressed as Mana from that group, and Mana is actually a guy in the real band.

Oh yes... No convention is complete without the requisite Naga cosplayer. Definitely. Updated pic from newly discovered video!

Most people when they see themselves on one of my snappy pages, they're flattered and surprised. I'd like to give credit where it is due, so if you can figure out how to email me, please do with the proper info I need. If you think your picture isn't on here but it should be, I could probably put it up if I got video of it. ^_^ I hope you enjoy my snappy thingies for Aka-con. I've never been there. I know it's on the west coast of Canada. Good thing to know so you don't spend 3 days on Canada's eastern coast looking for Vancouver! (warau!)
