| 1.) RESPECT | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 2.) Come prepared to Class everyday- This includes having a PENCIL, your binder, textbook, calculator, and homework. I routinely check to see if students are prepared, and will not allow them to go to their locker because they "forgot" something. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 3.) Be on TIME!! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 4.) Come Prepared with an Open Mind, A Willingness to Learn, a Positive Attitude,Prepared to Work and Have Fun. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Homework | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I assign homework becasue it helps students to practice what they've done in class, helps to prepare them for tests and quizzes, and also helps them to develop responsibility and organizational skills. Homework is assigned every night, with the exception vacations. Students should not spend more than 20-30 minutes on homework per night. Much of the homework will come from the text and activity sheets, as well as projects. Homework is to be done in PENCIL- a point will be deducted when it is done in pen. Each homework is worth 4 points, and I check it every day. I check to see that homework is ATTEMPTED! Students will be given a grade from 4- completely done, and is neat- to 0- is not done, forgotten etc. I also check to make sure that directions were followed. When a student does not have their homework, it is counted as a zero, unless there are extenuating circumstances. Students need to develop responsibility, and not having homework constitutes not being prepared for their "job". When a student misses two homeworks in a row, their consequence is a lunch detention, where they will "make-up" the assignment that they missed (knowing they receive 0 points), and begin work on the current days assignment. If this becomes a problem, a phone call home will result. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| CR's | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| CR's (Curriculum Reviews) is a review method used to help prepare students for the NYS Math exam in May. CR's consist of a wide variety of math problems and concepts that students have seen from fifth grade to current. CR's contain between 6-10 problems and range in points from 12-18. A CR is given every week on Friday- except for vacation weeks- and is turned in the following Friday. Students may let me "check" their CR's any time during the week to see what they have right or wrong. I will guide them as to what they are to do, and tell them if an answer is correct or not, however I WILL NOT GIVE answers. Students may show me their CR's as many times as they wish. Therefore, there is no excuse for students not to do well on their CR's. LET ME CHECK YOUR CR'S!!! |

| Tests/Quizzes & Projects | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Students can usually expect a quiz at least once a week. I usually try to announce quizzes at least a day prior, and usually review for the quiz. Sometimes quizzes will be unannounced. Students can usualy expect a test at the end of every unit. I usually announce tests a week in advance, and review in class for it. Any test that receives a grade of 60 or below MUST be signed by a parent and turned in within two days. If not, a phone call will result. Students do have opportunities to re-take TESTS- (not quizzes). TO be ELIGIBLE to retake a test, a student must not have missed more than TWO homeworks for the unit tha tis being tested. A student may take a retest as many times as they wish- with the highest grade prevailing. Sometimes a project will be assigned to replace a test. In this case, students usually will be given plenty of time to complete the project, depending on project length. Check this site for project information. |
