CULTURES & CUISINES
ASIAN CULTURES ASSIGNMENT:

Your group assignment is to create a presentation on an Asian Culture (other than China) similar to the presentation I have shared with you on the web. You can look at my sample by going to:
http://www.geocities.com/mrs_yeates/China.html - This assignment can also be viewed by going to this page.

FIRST, your group needs to decide on an Asian county to research. Some of the nations in Asia are Russia, India, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Korea, Malaysia, Afghanistan, Nepal, Laos, Myanmar(Burma), Bangladesh. Some small countries may be difficult to find the information you will be looking for, so you might want to stick to the larger, more well know countries.

COUNTRY: ____________________________________________

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:
Your project will be at least 3 three pages in length. Each page should have at least 2 pictures to go along with your text.
Page 1: Title: Culture and Cuisine of _____________________(country name)

Page 2: Title: Cultural __________________(country name)

You could also include religion, schools, history, traditions, but is not required. Two pictures to go along with text.

Page 3: Title: Meals and Food of ________________________________ (country name)
Choose two items to research: This page tells about the meal patterns followed in this county. It could tell about what kinds of foods and beverages are eaten, what they eat in the morning, noon and night. What is their staple food?  What cooking techniques are most often used? Are any special utensils or plates used, do they eat with their hands? At least two pictures to go with text.

You can also add other items if youd like:
*Regional cooking/foods                 *Recipes with pictures                          *Holidays/celebrations

HOW TO PUT YOUR PRESENTATION TOGETHER:
You can use PowerPoint or Word. It should look like a smaller version of my presentation on China. If using PowerPoint, you will have to use more than one page for each title area. You can use pictures from the web, or you can scan pictures from books to put onto your pages. The Media Center has books on countries or you can use the web to research. Just remember, searching on the web (with our slow connection) can take a tremendous amount of time. Here are some good sources of web information on foreign foods and countries:
