Mr. Plug-Getter
Company Information

In 1948 when I was seven years old, my family moved to Riverside, Alabama. Living on the banks of the Coosa River is where I learned to love water, fish and swim. Over the years I have become an avid bass fisherman. My main fishing area has always been the Coosa and Cahaba Rivers. As the waterways have become more populated, I have noticed an increase in the amount of debris left in the water. Once I noticed this, I began to wonder how it could be cleaned up.

In June of 1994, I started working on a device to retrieve fishing lures, line, hooks, lead (fishing weights), plastic worms, reels, rods, and various other types of debris normally left in our waterways. Having a profound love of clean water, I would like to find other ways to clean up our waterways, by making my invention better and more efficient. As a means to achieve this end result, I would like to run some tests and analyze them by the scientific method. To make these tests as meaningful as possible, I would like to use fish taken from Cahaba and Coosa rivers, using environments that mimic as close as possible to real conditions found in these waterways.

In the early 70's, I understand that Monsanto Chemical Corporation admitted to illegally dumping chemicals in Chochalocka Creek, which runs into the Coosa River. From time to time while fishing different parts of the Coosa River, I have noticed dead fish floating in the river. As recently as this year, the Environmental Health Department had issued an advisory against eating Bass or Catfish taken from the Coosa River.
