Hi, I'm glad you stopped by to see the results of many hours over several years of sleepless nights. Maybe you too have the desire to take some pictures of the universe. I do my observing from my back yard located in upstate NY north of Albany in Clifton Park.
Three years ago I received a Meade 4" reflector for Christmas and thought I was going to relive the adventures of the early astronomers. I couldn't wait to take the scope out to catch my first glimpse of a galaxy. Well I was seriously disappointed at what that scope had to offer, and no I did not see my first galaxy with it. That didn't discourage me however as I read every book the public library had to offer on astronomy. I joined the local Albany Area Amateur Astronomy Club. The internet was a big help inspiring me to pursue the hobby. I did a lot of research on different types of telescopes and their optics and decided I needed a bigger telescope to glimpse a galaxy.
That summer I saw a 13" f/6 dob advertised in the local paper and I had to have it. I saw my first galaxy with this one! I was out every cloudless night pointing that giant at every corner of the sky. I hadn't even heard if digital setting circles at that point but that didn't matter to me because I was too busy trying to grasp the immenseness of the sky. After several months of visually taking in the marvelous treasures of the sky I thought I would be nice to put some of these images on film like so many skilled photographers have done and displayed on their web pages. I would need a different type of telescope for this.
