Jazz Guitar - A Basic Approach
Introduction
The purpose of this site is to
provide a fundamental; understanding of how to develop chord melodies
for guitar. There is no magic, there is no "Holly Grail", nor any one method
which will get you there over night, however, there are basic concepts which I
have found useful in helping to bring it all together. The information
provided will help guide you on a path to becoming self-sufficient in arranging
your own songs.
In order to expedite your learning process, a fundamental
understanding of basic harmony and chord construction is essential. I will
provide links to reference material which may serve as either a tutorial or a
refresher.
The approach is begin with the study of some simple tunes.
You will learn to how to block out chords and construct a basic chord melody.
Most of the songs are played fingerstyle, although a pick or combined technique
may also be used. As this site progresses, I will add additional sections.
