Prerequisites : None
Reading Level : Average
Offering : Full Year
Local Exam
This course provides opportunities for creative thinking, decision-making,
and problem solving. Students will use design
techniques to generate
real solutions and apply them to real problems.
This course stimulates
student's understanding of the design process through challenges to develop
solutions to project-based problems. Develop skills in 3-D sketching,
computer aided drafting (CAD), modeling, technical design, and production.
Students will learn to use hand and power tools while producing prototypes

Technical Drawing - Elective
Grade : 10,11,12
Prerequisites : None
Reading Level : Average
Offering : Fall Semester (20
weeks)
Local Exam
Drawings and prints of
drawings are prepared and used as a form of
nonverbal communication between the designer and
the builder of a
product. They show shape, size, location, and
perhaps how to get
from one place to another. Depending on the
particular trade or
occupation, the drawings may be engineering
drawings, blueprints,
shop sketches, maps, or specification sheets.
However, they are all
intended to communicate through a language
often referred to as a
universal language. Students will also gain
experience in drawing and
sketching in several modes. The computer will
be introduced and used
for drawing and design via the CAD system.

Advanced CAD for
Production - Elective
Grade : 10,11,12
Prerequisites : Design and
Drawing for Production and Technical Drawing
Reading Level : Average
Offering : Spring Semester (20
weeks)
Local Exam
This course is for students who want to further
develop their CAD skills,
attack design problems with higher technical challenge, and refine wood-
working skills. If a student wishes to take the course for more than one
semester, it may be continued as an independent study contingent upon
space availability and the teacher's schedule. This course is designed to
use skills from Design and Drawing for Production as well as Technical
Drawing class. Some review of CAD will be covered with new concepts
introduced. This course is a more free, but advanced version of Design
and Drawing for Production.
