| Chapter Eleven: Search Party |
| Tim felt a hand on his shoulder in his sleep. It was shaking him. What was this annoying intrusion on his slumber? �Tim!� Ah, now the hand had a voice. It was a female voice with an American accent. �Tim, wake up!� �What?� Tim asked, sleepily. �Something�s happened, Tim!� Tim, his senses now about him, recognised the voice as Audrey�s. �Don�t tell me.� Tim stopped her. �Davimon�s come back to life and all our Digivices are gone.� �Tim, this is serious!� Audrey shouted. �It�s Andrea and Salamon! They�re gone!� �What?� Tim screamed, instantly jumping to his feet. �Where?� �We don�t know.� Audrey informed. �The others are all out looking for them.� |
| �Andi!� Kerri screamed, her hands cupped over her mouth. �Andi!� �Andrea!� Khalid called. �Salamon!� �Andi, where are you?� Sam shouted. �Salamon?� �Hey, you found anything?� Audrey asked, approaching Sam and Darren. �Not yet�� Darren trailed off. Moosemon shook his head. �Where could they have gone?� Audrey mused. �Do you think she was kidnapped by an evil Digimon?� Kerri asked, her voice quivering. Eaglemon looked up at her; she was incredibly concerned. �If she was, they probably would have kidnapped more of us.� Tim reasoned. �Are you saying she left?� Sam queried. �Maybe.� Tim shrugged. �Either way, we need to keep looking for her.� �Great, now we have to find her and the crests�� Darren trailed off, only to receive a swift kick in the shin from Kerri. �Ow! What was that for?� �You insensitive asshole!� Kerri shouted. �Andi might have been kidnapped! Don�t you care?� Darren was about to open his mouth to reply, when Khalid approached the congregation, holding up a small object. �Guys, I found this!� Khalid exclaimed, holding the object up for the group to see. �What is it?� Tim asked. �It�s�part of a Digivice!� Shocamon discovered, gazing at the object after Khalid held it close to his face. �Not just any part�� Eaglemon stated. �That�s the Digivice tracking device!� �The tracking device?� Kerri repeated, looking down at Eaglemon. �Yeah.� Eaglemon continued. �Without that, her Digivice won�t show up on our Digivice radars!� �What!� Tim exclaimed. �So if she doesn�t have the tracking device�� �She�ll be millions of times harder to find!� Shocamon finished. �Dammit!� Kerri exclaimed, stamping her foot. �Look on the bright side�� Sam said. �There�s a bright side to this?� Kerri asked incredulously. �Yeah.� Sam continued. �I doubt an evil Digimon would have the intelligence to remove a Digivice tracking device. I think she removed it herself, and she doesn�t want us to find her.� �So you�re saying, she wasn�t kidnapped?� Kerri said. �That makes sense.� Audrey replied. �But if she�s alone, then any evil Digimon that finds her will easily kill her�� Tim trailed off. �Yeah.� Khalid agreed. �Gatomon�s strong, but she can�t win every fight.� With these words, the group looked downwards, as if mourning. �Good morning!� The group turned to Adrian, who had just awoken, and also had a big grin on his face, which quickly disappeared when he sighted the group�s serious expressions. �What�s up?� He asked, looking around. �Where�s Andrea?� The rest of the group looked at each other with incredulity. |
| The now fourteen-strong group walked through the forest, slightly saddened at their loss of Salamon and Andrea. They continued to call out their names as they walked through the forest, though they were beginning to lose hope. Darren looked down at the ground as he followed the group. He shook his head out of guilt. He hadn�t meant to hurt Kerri�s feelings. He approached her. �Kerri?� Darren spoke. �Andi!� Kerri shouted out again, ignoring Darren. �Kerri!� Darren shouted. �What?� Kerri looked at Darren, an irritated expression on her face. �I�m sorry about what I said just then.� Darren explained. �It�s okay.� Kerri said, turning ahead. She cupped her hands over her mouth once again. �Andi!� �I�m really sorry.� Darren apologised. �I know Darren!� Kerri exclaimed, annoyed, turning to him again. �I�m just�worried, that�s all�� she explained, calmer now, before turning and cupping her hands over her mouth again. �Andi!� Darren looked down at the ground again. �Daz, what�s up?� Tim asked. �I feel really guilty after what I said.� Darren whispered. �Relax Daz.� Sam remarked. �I think she likes you.� �But she kicked me in the leg!� �If I had said what you did, she would have kicked me in the balls.� Sam replied. �Trust me, she likes you.� �Will you guys stop talking about that?� Audrey interrupted. �We have to find Andrea. That�s more important now.� |
| �Are you sure they�ll come this way, Andi?� Gatomon asked, jumping over the small ravine. �Yeah, pretty sure.� Andrea replied, watching the small cat Digimon as she leaped up the tree with the rope in her mouth. �I want to be nearby, where we can protect them.� �Why don�t you just go back?� Gatomon asked, as legibly as she could with a mouthful of rope, as she continued to climb up the tall tree. �I can�t�� Andrea trailed off, turning around. Gatomon tied the rope in a knot around the tree and jumped in front of Andrea. She glowed white and returned to her Salamon form. �Why not?� Salamon asked. ��It�s my crest, Salamon�� Andrea explained. �What about it?� Salamon queried. ��I don�t think�� Andrea stopped talking when she heard voices. �They�re here, Salamon! Quick, hide!� Andrea and Salamon dove into a nearby shrubbery as the group emerged on the other side of the ravine. |
| �Andrea!� Adrian called. �Andre�shit!� Adrian stopped suddenly, holding the rest of the group back. This is when they all noticed the ravine. The entire group looked down, as they could see no way across. �Shit, how are we supposed to cross?� Adrian asked. �We�ll have to find another way around�� Kerri said. �Wait!� Darren called. �What?� Kerri questioned. Darren grabbed a rope that he found resting on the branch of a tree. He pulled it and found that it was tied to a tree on the opposite side. �We can use this rope to swing across.� Darren explained, tugging on the rope and finding it was secure. �What!� Kerri exclaimed. �No way Darren, I fell down a ravine yesterday, remember?� �But this time you have your Digivice.� Sam argued. �Yeah, and there�s no Swoopmon!� Khalid added. �It looks pretty safe.� Tim said, studying the tree opposite. The rope was tied to it at a high enough spot to make their jump across a safe one. �I�ll go first. Get on, Shocamon!� Shocamon climbed onto Tim�s back and Tim grabbed onto the rope tightly. He then jumped, lifting up his legs to decrease drag. He made it across the ravine and threw the rope back to the others. Darren then grabbed the rope and jumped across, Moosemon clinging to his t-shirt. After making it safely across, Darren threw the rope to Kerri. Kerri clutched the rope and looked down over the side of the ravine. �Scary�� Kerri trailed off. Suddenly, she felt two hands on her back. �Hurry up and go, Kerri!� Khalid shouted, pushing her. Kerri screamed, almost losing her balance, but remaining on the same side of the ravine. She turned to Khalid, an angry expression on her face. �Damn you!� Kerri exclaimed, swiftly kicking Khalid in the crotch. The young man double over in pain, groaning. Adrian pointed at him and laughed. �Now I know what Sam meant.� Darren whispered to Tim. Kerri gripped the rope tightly and prepared herself to jump, as a black flash passed them, following the ravine. Kerri jumped, but was surprised when the rope didn�t support her weight! The black flash had cut it in the middle. The girl screamed as she started to fall down the ravine. Khalid and Adrian acted fast and grabbed her ankles as she was falling, leaving her suspended upside down above the canyon. �Help!� Kerri screamed. �Don�t worry Kerri, we�ve got you!� Khalid shouted. Sam and Audrey bent down and helped the young girl get back up. Kerri held up the half of the rope she had managed to salvage. �That sucks.� She stated calmly, before the group looked up and saw a black humanoid Digimon with four black wings and a helmet, whose visor only showed a deep red glow. His hands ended with three fingers, each with a razor-sharp claw at their end. He looked up at the group. �Greetings, Digidestined.� The Digimon spoke. �Who are you?� Audrey asked. �Don�t trust him!� Slipmon warned. �He�s Dracomon, the evil Digimon Gennai warned us about! He�s ultimate level, and his Viral Blade attack can paralyse Digimon!� With this, Dracomon laughed. �Thank you Slipmon, for bringing your pathetic friends up to speed. Yes, I am Dracomon.� �Are you trying to steal our crests?� Sam asked. �Steal your crests or destroy you all.� Dracomon corrected him. �Either way, I win. I�d prefer to destroy you now however, it�s faster.� �No way can you destroy us!� Kerri shouted, looking down at Eaglemon. �Eaglemon, Digivolve!� �Eaglemon Digivolve to�Abdulmon!� �Slipmon Digivolve to�Hereticmon!� �Shocamon Digivolve to�Fusemon!� �Moosemon Digivolve to�Wumon!� �Tridemon Digivolve to�Novadramon!� �Slythamon Digivolve to�Serpemon!� �Onomon Digivolve to�Katonomon!� The seven champion level Digimon looked up at Dracomon, who simply smiled and crossed his arms in front of his face. �He�s going to attack!� Wumon announced. �Let�s not give him the chance!� Fusemon replied, charging his cannons. �Shockcannon!� He fired two balls of electricity at Dracomon. �Mega Wing!� Abdulmon shouted, charging up a ball of energy. �Flame Bubble!� Novadramon called, charging a ball of fire and releasing it. The three attacks flew towards Dracomon, but the evil Digimon flew swiftly out of the way, and the three attacks exploded where they met. The sight of the explosions stunned the Digidestined and their Digimon for a moment. �Now it�s my turn!� Dracomon called. �Viral Blade!� Dracomon slashed downwards and three bands of energy flew from his claws. They hit Novadramon and Abdulmon, turning them back into Tridemon and Eaglemon, respectively. �Darkness Grenades!� Hereticmon called, throwing several dark balls of energy at Dracomon. �Antler Shot!� Wumon said, launching his antlers. Dracomon shielded against the darkness grenades with his right hand and deflected Wumon�s antlers with his other hand. |
| �Damn, he�s strong�� Andrea whispered to Salamon. �Andi, please let me help them!� Salamon replied. �No!� Andrea replied as sternly as she could while still whispering. �We need to stay hidden.� |
| �Viral Blade!� Dracomon shouted, slashing downwards with his claws. The energy hit Fusemon and Wumon, transforming them back to their rookie forms. Dracomon turned to Hereticmon, Katonomon and Serpemon. �Ready to die?� Dracomon asked. �No way!� Serpemon defied. �Snake Pulse!� Serpemon released her attack at Dracomon. �Money Shot!� Katonomon cried, releasing a salvo of white energy. �Darkness Grenades!� Hereticmon shouted, throwing a load of black balls of energy at Dracomon. Dracomon responded by slashing through Serpemon�s attack, then holding up both hands to shield him from both salvos of energy. Then Dracomon lifted up his claws and slashed downwards three times. �Viral Blade!� Dracomon screamed, his energy flying towards the three Digimon. Katonomon and Serpemon were hit, sending them back to rookie Digimon. However, when Hereticmon was hit by the attack, it didn�t seem to have any effect on him! �What?� Dracomon said, shocked. �You all run, I�ll hold him off!� Hereticmon cried, before the five Digidestined on the original side of the ravine, with the exception of Khalid, ran in the direction from whence they had come, their Digimon partners not far behind. Tim, Darren, and their respective Digimon ran away from the ravine on the other side. Dracomon landed near Hereticmon and tried to punch him, but Hereticmon blocked with his arm. To counter, Hereticmon swung both of his right fists at Dracomon. The villain managed to block one, but not the other, and was sent reeling. Then, he saw the rope that Kerri had dropped. He picked it up and swung it at Hereticmon. The other Digimon was stunned by the impact of the rope. Then Dracomon threw a small canister at Hereticmon, which opened in mid-air, releasing a net. The net consumed Hereticmon, trapping him inside. Khalid ran to try and help Hereticmon, but another net flew over him. Dracomon stood and flew past the two. |
| Adrian, Audrey, Sam, Kerri and their Digimon ran through the forest, not caring which direction they were going. Suddenly, a shadow flew over them. The Digidestined looked behind them and saw Dracomon flying towards them. The evil Digimon took another canister off of his person then threw it at the group. The net flew over Sam and Tridemon and trapped them both in. The two struggled to break free, but their efforts were in vain. Dracomon continued flying towards the other six. Eaglemon turned and faced Dracomon. �Kerri, keep going!� Eaglemon ordered. �Eaglemon, no!� Kerri shouted, as Dracomon threw another canister at Eaglemon. Adrian, Audrey and their Digimon continued running as Kerri stayed where she was. �Sweeping Wing!� Eaglemon cried, his attack pushing the canister back at Dracomon. Eaglemon�s plan worked, and the canister opened up, trapping Dracomon in the net. Eaglemon turned to Kerri and smiled. The young girl smiled back. �I did it Kerri! I stopped him!� Eaglemon proclaimed happily. �Viral Blade!� Kerri�s expression changed to fear as Dracomon tore through the net with his claws. He quickly threw another canister at the pair, trapping them both in a net. The trapped duo screamed for help and struggled but to no avail. Dracomon continued his flight, looking down at his belt. Because of the net that Eaglemon wasted, he only had one left � was this enough to capture Adrian, Audrey and their Digimon? To find out, he continued to chase the four of them. Eventually, they came to the ravine Swoopmon had attacked them over. Adrian and Audrey turned back as Dracomon came towards them. Audrey shook her head. �This is the end�� she spoke. �Snake Constriction!� Slythamon shouted, shooting a string from her teeth. Dracomon simply cut through the string with his claws before it reached him. �Semblance Bomb!� Onomon cried, releasing a ball of white energy. Dracomon crossed his arms in front of his face and the attack dissipated when it hit them, seemingly having no effect on him. �Now you die, Digidestined!� Dracomon screamed, throwing a canister at the four of them. It exploded, releasing its net, and the net surrounded the two humans and their Digimon. But the impact of the net was strong enough to knock them over the edge, into the ravine! Dracomon laughed upon seeing this, then turned and flew off. |
| Andrea watched as Audrey and Adrian fell. She looked down at Salamon. �Now, Salamon!� She ordered. �Salamon Digivolve to�Gatomon!� Gatomon shouted, before running off and jumping down the ravine. She saw the net falling and put her arms and legs at her sides, causing her to fall faster. When she approached the net, she prepared her claws. �Lightning Claw!� Gatomon cried, slashing the net. It split open, to the shock of the four inside. Audrey and Adrian looked up at their saviour. �Gatomon!� Adrian observed. �Adrian, Audrey, Onomon, Slythamon, everyone hold on to the net!� Gatomon ordered, and the foursome did as they were told. Gatomon grabbed the tattered net in one paw and looked down. She saw a branch growing out of the side of the ravine. Thinking fast, she fell towards it, grabbing onto it with her free paw. She swung around in circles around the branch, building up momentum, until eventually she released the net. Adrian, Audrey and their Digimon flew back up the side of the ravine, landing safely near the edge. The four let go and looked down the side again. The branch was too far down to see Gatomon. |
| Gatomon breathed a sigh of relief as she saw her four friends land safely. She let go of the branch and fell the rest of the way down the ravine, safely landing at the bottom. Andrea, who had found another way down into the abyss, approached her. �Gatomon!� Andrea shouted, embracing her Digimon. �Are you okay?� �I�m fine.� Gatomon said. �Cats always land on their feet, remember?� �Yeah.� Andrea replied, smiling. Gatomon glowed white and returned to her Salamon form. Salamon looked at Andrea�s chest, seeing some light emanate from beneath her top. �Andi, your tag is glowing!� Salamon said, and Andrea looked down at it. Sure enough, the outline of her tag could clearly be seen. �Your crest must be nearby.� The two of them looked around and saw a small cave in the wall of the canyon. There was some light emanating from it. �In there!� Salamon cried, and the pair approached the cave. Inside, on a small pedestal, laid a pink crest. Andrea picked up the crest and slotted it into her tag. The symbol on the crest was a circle with a line running through its top right quarter. Above and below the circle were two triangles, each pointing away from the circle. �The Crest of Emotion�� Andrea trailed off, gazing at the symbol on the charm. |
| Dracomon had remembered the exact route he had taken and flew over the same route, taking care to pick up the nets that had imprisoned Kerri, Sam, Khalid and their Digimon. He was glad to see that Hereticmon had become his rookie form. He didn�t feel like carrying a champion back to his lair. |
| Darren and Tim watched as their friends were carried off. �What should we do?� Moosemon asked, looking up at Darren. �We have to save them!� Darren replied. �Yeah.� Tim agreed, looking down at the two Digimon. �Tim, Darren, I only see three of them up there�� Shocamon observed. �What?� Tim exclaimed, looking up. Although he could not tell who they were, it was certain that only three of the Digidestined had been captured. �Oh yeah. Where are the other two?� �Well, we know they got Khalid.� Moosemon reminded them. �So out of Adrian, Audrey, Sam and Kerri, two of them must have got away.� �Well, we�re gonna save them, so it doesn�t matter.� Darren spoke. �Yeah, but we need to find the other two.� Tim said. �Gatomon saved us�� Audrey trailed off. �Shit, I thought I was gonna die�� Adrian spoke. �We would have, if it wasn�t for Gatomon and Andrea!� Slythamon said. �Wait, Andrea must be nearby!� Adrian figured, before cupping his hands around his mouth. �Andrea!� �Andrea!� Audrey also called. They heard no reply. �What�s wrong with that girl, why won�t she come help us?� �I dunno.� Adrian replied. |
| Andrea looked up from the bottom of the ravine as she heard the two of them call her name. She shook her head and looked down at her Digivice. Her radar was only picking up the signals of Audrey and Adrian. Everyone else was too far away. She figured, however, that Tim and Darren must still be near the ravine. She smiled down at Salamon then followed the ravine to the two boys. |
