This was my torana before I drove it into the shed and stripped her back to bare metal to find a few nasty surprises. It looked in a lot better nick that it actually was. Some rust holes were just covered with body filler and then painted over, there were a few little rust holes starting to apear. The interior was in good condition but looked really crappy as the dash, door trims and roof lining was that ugly creamy brown colour, and eveything thing else was painted red even the ashtray and interior light. The appearance of the LC wasn't to bad, the paint job was O.K. apart from the bonnet, bumpers and headlight surround being painted black (YUK), I scrubbed the black off the surrounds which made it look a lot better, but the bumpers were stuffed. The bumpers had been attacked with a grinder to get the chrome off the so they could be painted black, what a waste of 2 good bumpers. |

There was a good 202 in it which was reliable and still in reasonably good nick, I never had any problems with it. The 202 had a yella terra head, extractors, XU-1 cam, small bore, standard crank, a set of triple SU's were bolted on and it had a 4 speed commodore gearbox which I couldn't stand so I sold it. When I picked it up it had a 3.08 ratio diff in it, but it only lasted 4 days with me before it went "Twang", It's now got a 3.36 LSD which picks up alright but has got no top end speed. The car didn't go too bad for the small amount of work done to it, but it's got potential. |

The exhaust was 2" and then went into a hotdog with a 2 1/2 inch tip, which didn't sound too bad, but it didn't have that scream that you get from the XU-1 mufflers. The handling wasn't too bad, it was a bit sloppy, I reckon some lowered king springs a koni shocks will fix that. It needs to be about and inch lower cause it sits a bit high. It had drum brakes all round but im searching for a set of disks for the front, cause I wanna be able to stop. I don't really go much on hotwire mags on LC/J's but I guess they'll have to do for now, I'd rather a set of rebels or even sprintmasters. |
