RE: WEST NILE VIRUS----Encephalitis

We have received dozens of emails and phone calls about the West Nile
Virus, so I want to relay to you what happened to me and my dog being bit by a mosquito carrying the encephalitis virus in 1999. Encephalitis is very similar to the West Nile Virus. This lengthy email is because
all of us are scared and need to know there is help if the situation
hits your home or rabbitry.

Last week--September 15-21, 2002--veterinarians in Illinois confirmed
the first US case of West Nile virus in a dog. The victim was an 8-year-old Irish Setter/Golden Retriever mix. This virus attacks the nervous system causing muscles (including the brain) to atrophy making the dog very unstable in all movements. The dog begins to lose tremendous amounts of weight virtually overnight. Its appetite is almost nonexistent and the dog will sleep almost around the clock.

How do I know this? Because my own dog contacted encephalitis which
has the same symptoms as the West Nile Virus while we were at a bird show that was held in the Meadowlands of New Jersey in July 1999. This is the same summer that over one dozen New York City residents died of this mosquito carrying virus. At that time the Mayor ordered
helicopters and other planes to spread a lethal chemical over the City and the Boroughs in an attempt to kill the mosquitoes before they did any more damage to mankind.

This is going to be a longer than normal email because I am going to
tell you what we did to save our twelve year old Akita named Taigi when he contacted this almost always fatal virus. Our customers know this story, but now it is time for the general public to know that the West Nile Virus just might not be fatal if you know the symptoms and act
immediately with time proven herbs that fight viruses.

Encephalitis is an acute inflammation of the brain and spinal cord
thus affecting the central nervous system. Taigi at first had difficulty walking in a straight line, which we didn't pay too much attention to. But then he began to lose weight and lots of weight, like 65 of his 125 pounds so rapidly we became alarmed. Of course he lost his appetite, but most Akitas eat less in the heat of the
summer, but definitely not like this.

We took him to a Vet in N.J. to have him looked at, but the Vet
(conventional Western by the way) said not to worry as it was probably due to the extreme heat and he gave us an antibiotic which we did not use (fortunately as we later learned [from our Vet] because it would have actually made his condition worse). By the time we got home five days later, he was down to 80 lbs. and I could pick him up. He had serious itching as his body was trying to push the toxins out of his entire system. He was scratching ferociously continually. He was and we were nervous wrecks.

When we got home, we immediately took him to our Doc and he knew
immediately that our dog had encephalitis--a form of West Nile Virus. For the next two weeks Taigi was doctored literally around the clock with natural remedies, not drugs. We administered:

Virastem---our potent virus remedy used for over 200 years to combat viral infections.
ProBac Puppy---even though Taigi was twelve years old--this contains colostrum's immunoglobulins
and antibodies and good bacteria for immune system support which is absolutely essential
when you are dealing with an extremely serious health condition.
Systemajuv--our main herbal remedy for all kinds of health conditions to rejuvenate
all the systems in the body including the immune system.
Canine Vita Pak---also to support him nutritionally.

We mixed a tiny amount of water with these liquid tinctures and
powders all together in a little jar, then took an eyedropper and squirted these directly in his mouth being careful to avoid his wind pipe.
We did this every single half-hour for 48 hours straight. Then every
single hour thereafter around the clock for the next two weeks.

Taigi had the strength to lick his mouth where we placed the remedies
and drink a little water, but he did not have the strength to even eat for about five days. I boiled range fed chickens with lots of vegetables and then cut the chicken into very small pieces and mashed up the vegetables and potatoes, thickened the broth with some flour and water to make a gravy.
Then we put this mixture in his mouth, which he managed to swallow.

He slept constantly even to the point of us thinking he was dead.
When he had to go outside to relieve his kidneys, etc., we literally had to carry our big Akita outside, hold him up while he did his business and carry him inside because he couldn't walk. He had no strength and his
coordination was affected from the ravages of the virus attacking his
brain.

He had pus coming from his cheeks and completely lost the hair on both
cheeks and under his belly where the pus was seeping through his skin. What a horrible smell and sight. These were the toxins coming out of his brain and body so we were actually happy to see this.

HIS HEART STOPPED TWICE

Taigi's heart stopped on him twice, but we were able to get it to
start again by squirting in his mouth 3-4 droppers full of the hottest cayenne pepper tincture we had in our house each time this happened. Cayenne pepper will activate the heart and get the blood circulating again. This
did create an ulcer in his mouth, which healed in less than two weeks.
Boy were we scared about this--get the heart going, but now create pain in his mouth. Obviously the pain was the least concern at this point.

One of the most respected herbalists in this country, Dr. Richard
Schulze from California taught us this technique. It worked and worked well!! Thank God we knew about Dr. Schulze and have his tapes in our library and our tinctures already prepared. Every American should have his
tapes and the tinctures too. You can reach Dr. Schulze's office at
1 800 437-2362 if you wish.

HE'S TURNED THE CORNER AT LAST

After two weeks of round the clock nursing, Taigi was now well enough
to get by with his remedies administered hourly for ten to twelve hours a day. He had recovered enough that he was able to eat at last and was strong enough to walk out and do his personal business without having to be supported by one of us.

We continued to give him Virastem, Systemajuv, ProBac Puppy, Concentrated
Trace Minerals and Canine Vita Pak in a liquid mixture now four to six times daily for the next ninety days as he gradually regained his strength and his weight. We went through two large bottles of the Systemajuv and the Virastem in this period of time. The other products lasted lots longer.

Finally after six months of special nursing and lots of good home cooked
meat and vegetables, Taigi was fully back to health and as ornery and bossy as ever. Sometimes that is a pain, but we were really happy to see him back to being our little boss around here.

His hair grew back even thicker and prettier than before due to the ProBac
Puppy and the natural fats in the colostrum. He gained all his weight back completely and I developed a new habit of fixing our own people food for him as though he was a two-legged member of the family. This is when I discovered for certain that it is just as easy to cook for your pet as it is for a husband and the kids. Home cooked food is a whole lot more beneficial for a dog's health no matter what anyone tells you. A caveat here is that we never ever ever eat prepared foods of any sort because of all the chemicals and preservatives in them. We only eat organic fresh meats and vegetables and organic fruit in our home. I can't emphasize this enough for you and
your pets. As I was, you will be amazed at what dogs and cats and birds and rabbits will eat. Freshness and variety are the keys to pets eating good food.

If you want to see what Taigi looked like in June of 2000, eleven months
after contacting this almost always fatal virus go to this page
http://www.petmedicinechest.com/taigi2.asp
and check out his muscle and shiny coat. How's that for a young
thirteen year old whose heart stopped twice!!!

We aren't sure why Taigi contacted this virus in the first place, but
it very well may have been from the stress of traveling, being out of his routine and thus his immune system being stressed. Maybe his age had a little to do with it (if that is an excuse). I really should have been giving
him Anxieteze and Systemajuv and ProBac Adult on a daily basis while
traveling, but I didn't think about it. Shame on me that's for sure.

FIGHTING A VIRUS

The real secret of avoiding a virus is having a strong immune system.
That's why Taigi should have been on the Systemajuv and on the ProBac each day while traveling. Both of these help to build the immune system to fight off all kinds of foreign invaders of the body. Don't let this happen to your pet. Build their immune system. This is the way to prevent this situation and almost all health conditions. Learn from our experience and try not
to be too frightened by the media about the West Nile Virus. A devastating virus can be mastered if you have the will and the herbs to do it!!!

DO HERBS REALLY WORK?

There is no one and I mean no one who can tell us that herbs cannot work
for a pet's illness including a condition as lethal and vicious as this encephalitis virus. It is basically up to the caregiver. Mother Nature's remedies work, but they don't work in the bottle. They need to be administered with regularity, determination and the will to make
them work. We were diligent and absolutely determined to bring our dog back to health especially when several people (including members of my family) told us he "wouldn't make it". Well Taigi did make it and he made it with
Mother Nature's remedies I am very proud to say. By the way, the total
cost of bringing our precious dog back to health was $338 excluding his food.

This story is in our Christmas 2001 newsletter that is distributed to
our dog customers only, but in light of the fact that this West Nile Virus is scaring the daylights out of all pet owners, we wanted to let you know that if the mosquito gets your dog or your cat or your rabbit or your bird that
there is experienced help at hand. All you have to do is call us
immediately at (712) 644-3535 and we can get what you need with UPS next day air service. It is extremely important to get after this virus as quickly as possible.

Don't let someone try to tell you your precious pet is not worth saving
just because they aren't aware of what you know. Use your own brain and do your own thinking even though it is very difficult in difficult times. You would not have come to our site originally if you were not an intelligent thinking person. That's why we appreciate you.

RE: CHLORINATED & FLUORIDE WATER

Today I would like to take the liberty of giving you an observation of
Using city water, which has all the chemicals that the health departments require. We are on well water here so this observation is my own personal
experience.

This past Saturday thru Tuesday I was in Peoria, IL for the National
Rabbit Convention. By Monday morning I was noticing an extraordinary amount of wrinkles and severely dehydrated skin even though I took water from home and drank close to a gallon a day like I normally do.

After arriving back home and getting back to normal healthy water in
the shower, the wrinkles actually disappeared before I had a night's sleep. I am convinced it is from all the chemicals in the city water and the dehydration these chemicals seem to cause. As we say time and time again, the skin is the largest organ in the body and also the most absorbent. So obviously these chemicals were certainly absorbed by my body with not very nice results.

It occurred to me that rabbits drink this type of chemically laden
water. We get several emails and/or calls a year telling us that their rabbit is dehydrated and they don't know why. We know for sure chlorinated water is a good part of the reason for dehydrated babies in a lot of those cases and probably for the parents as well.

Here is the medical definition of chlorine: "an extremely pungent
gaseous element with antiseptic and bleaching properties. It is widely used to sterilize drinking water and purify swimming pools. In high concentrations it is toxic; it was used in WW I as a poison gas in the trenches".

Chlorine in high concentrations is used as rat and mice poison.
Frankly, rabbits are very small animals and over the years the build up of toxic chlorine within the body has to be a consideration in a rabbit's health. Most of our customers have a filtering system on their home water that removes this dangerous substance from their rabbit's water, but I just wanted to remind you because the evidence was so vivid to me.

About this fluoride. This is one of the most lethal chemicals to be
introduced to the American public there is. This chemical is a waste product from the aluminum industry. It actually removes the calcium from bones as well as has a numbing effect of the central nervous system. This product was used in the Soviet Union by Stalin to control the prisoners in the gulags. It is being administered to our elementary and high school children in drop form once a month, however every parent has to sign off that this is approved by them for the "benefit of their child's teeth". Ever wonder why it is being used in this country? Make sure your filters take this out too.

If you have a filtering system for your rabbits and not for yourselves, it
really would behoove you to look into this for the health and well being of your family. Go to the Internet and research. We frankly don't know what the "best" filtering systems are because we never had to worry about it and research it.

Just thought you ought to think about this again like I did. There is
just no possible way this city water can be good for your rabbits and other pets or for yourselves.

Sincerely,

Rose

RE: HAIR LOSS IN RABBITS

This is an excerpt from our annual Christmas newsletter and little
calendar that goes out to our customers via regular mail. We do
more details on what to do in our newsletter of course, but this issue
is so important right now that we thought our web friends should know
about it too.

Hair loss is becoming a real serious health problem recently. Some
rabbits have hair coming out in chunks leaving large bald patches.
Some hair loss starts at the tail and moves forward. Others are
almost completely bald. We have been getting frantic emails and
calls about this condition since last spring.

From our experiences over the past several years, we have found
this condition to be caused by toxins in the rabbit's system. What
this means is that the rabbit's body is so poisoned from chemicals
that the blood is fully loaded with contaminants and it cannot
provide nourishment to all the cells in the rabbit's body. The skin
is the largest organ in the body requiring lots of nourishment.
The bald spots and hair loss are a manifestation that there is
something clearly wrong with the rabbit's system as these cells are
not getting nourished, hence the hair falling out.

Most conventional veterinarians will tell an owner that the rabbit
has allergies and it is just scratching the itch that the allergies
cause. We think that this cause is much much deeper than an allergy
problem. In fact we strongly believe that allergy problems themselves
are an indication of toxins in the system with the liver and kidneys
and lungs unable to filter these toxins out because they are
overloaded.

Once the filtering system of the body becomes overloaded, those toxins
poisons) are still there. Where do they go now? These toxins go
to the other tissues of the body. Since the skin is the largest
organ, it gets more than its share of the toxic substances. These toxins will go to the joints causing arthritic conditions. They will go to the brain causing epileptic seizures. They can go to the immune
system causing fatigue. They can go to the reproductive system
causing infertility and deformity in the offspring. The list of chronic conditions that are caused by toxic substances in the body goes on and on.

In order to have a rabbit return to health, these toxins must be
removed. If not, then chronic health conditions will continue. For what we do for our rabbits and recommend for our customers, please click onto this link:

RE: THE HEART/VALENTINES DAY SPECIAL

An elderly rabbit can have heart health problems just like a human
can. Since it is close to Valentines Day, we thought you would like to know what Mother Nature has in her cupboard to help with heart conditions such as murmurs, weaken heart, plague. For our detailed discussion, please click onto this link:

http://www.petmedicinechest.com/rabbit/discussions/heartprobtext.asp

Yes, you can restore a heart to health, but you need the right
nutrients and you need the right herbs from Mother Nature. One of the nutrients that one doesn't think about is the rabbit that has a heart condition needs to eat beef heart, or pork heart or lamb heart or chicken heart.

Notice I didn't mention rabbit heart. That's because you don't want
to feed one species its own species. This is called cannibalism and can produce serious health problems. This is (was) the root cause of the mad cow disease in Europe a few years ago. Imagine feeding a dead cow to another cow especially in light of the fact that cows don't eat meat. Any cows you have ever known eat meat? Cows eat grass and more grass, period! Talk about mad scientists!!

If your rabbit or your friend's rabbit may have a heart condition or
you would like to stock your medicine kit with a heart remedy at a nice
discount, we have a Valentines Day special just for you. Please click here for details:

RE: WILD RABBITS AND SPROUTS

Most of you know that we are organic farmers and that we
live on a farm. Last fall we had some dams built on some
pasture land to save water from gully washing. We re-seeded
the soil that had been moved around with several types of pasture
grass seeds.

This morning we spotted over 40 wild turkeys and several wild birds
and........wild rabbits......having a feast on these fresh little
grass sprouts as they are coming up through the moist soil.

We all know birds love sprouts, but the thing that fascinated
us was that there were close to a dozen wild rabbits also feasting
on the same sprouts about fifty feet from the birds. The male
gobbler chased the rabbits from time to time, but the rabbits
were not about to lose out on such good eating.

We have always said that sprouts are one of Mother Nature's most
perfect foods. Why? Because sprouts contain all the essential
elements necessary to create and sustain a plant or a tree. If
the little sprout can create a plant or a tree, it stands to
reason that a little sprout can sustain your rabbit's life too.

The wild animals on our farm just verified this theory for us this
morning. No one placed these sprouts in a dish for them. The
turkeys, birds and rabbits just instinctively know what is good for
them and their body's needs. They know what to look for and what
to do in order to provide excellent nourishment for themselves.

Rabbit owners frequently ask what we would recommend feeding their
rabbits and we have suggested sprouts. Now we know for certain that
we were recommending correctly. The wild rabbits just told us that
this morning.

We thought you might enjoy us sharing this with you today.

RE: SPRING FLOWERS-DANDELION & MILK THISTLE BLESSINGS

It is springtime again and one of Mother Nature's first
flowers to show up after a long winter is the wonderful
dandelion. Yes, I said wonderful.

The dandelion has been shown to have wonderful cleansing
properties for the bloodstream and the liver and helps
with pancreas functions. Adding the dandelion flower, leaves
and root to your rabbit's diet can help with gout, heartburn,
rheumatism and skin disorders.

Dandelions have a diuretic, tonic and laxative affect if the
body requires it. This "weed" is contains an abundance of
minerals including potassium and sodium in a balanced profile.
Thus the dandelion will replenish an animal's potassium and
sodium needs as it is providing diuretic activities.

The diuretic, tonic and laxative affects have been shown to
help in over-all cleansing of the body after a long winter.
Be sure to add this wonderful herb to your rabbit's food bowl.
Make sure no chemicals have been sprayed on them first.

A hint--if you notice a lot of dandelions on your yard, this
indicates that your soil is quite toxic and the dandelions
are there naturally in an attempt to cleanse the soil and
bring minerals from deep within the earth to your grass. You
may want to visit this discussion page as to what you can
do: http://www.petmedicinechest.com/Lawns/lawnsnaturallytext.asp

What about Milk Thistle? Does this herb clean the liver?
Milk thistle helps the liver of course, but this herb's primary
function is to protect the liver and help regenerate liver
cells. It is always best to clean the liver before you
begin to protect it.

It doesn't make much common sense in protecting a dirty
congested liver. Our recommendation would be to clean
the liver first with dandelions or Hemotox and Metaltox,
then add Milk Thistle to help with new cell growth and to
prevent future liver damage.

A person can add milk thistle leaves to your pet's daily
diet. You will be adding a lot of balanced minerals
at the same time. Don't forget, without minerals the body
does not absorb vitamins.

We thought you might like to think about this for the health
benefit of your best little friend(s) this time of the year.

This time of the year, many rabbits seem to have watery eye problems.
This is probably due to the pollen and other springtime conditions.

If this is happening to your rabbit, you might consider misting your
rabbit's eyes with Oxyjuv and water several times a day. This brings
oxygen to the eyes and has been shown to help with whatever may be the
culprit causing your rabbit its misery.
