Upon repatriating, the victorious troops of 4th battalion were greeted and decorated. I was awarded the highest Gallantry Cross Medal (with Palm) and promoted to 1st Lieutenant.
Friendly Forces:
9th Infantry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 51st Artillery Bn., 9th Recondo Company
Enemies:
9th Infantry's 174th Regiment, Z27 Special Operation Bn., a division level training center, logistics command.
Casualties:
Of our 4th Bn: 27 KIA's, 2 dozens wounded
237 enemies killed by the battalion, no prisoners, wounded unknown.
