Prologue

Where fantasy becomes reality and love becomes something more.

In the year of the phoenix two clans were buried amongst the flames of their own destruction, one ruled by truth and the other by pragmatism as they fought out their differences in a world created by hate and betrayal. Families deceived one another; loved ones stabbed each other in the back, friends turned to enemies; to lovers. Darkness consumed the world and everybody in it. It was a pitiful time to be alive.

To some it is nothing more than simple perception � you see the world as a thing to hate you and it does. Some accept it, some revel in it. Some see the light amongst the obsidian fire, a single candle in the growing dark. Others�. Others laugh and blow it out.

Ashes to Ashes, dust to dust, death came and the world lost.

As the legend of the mighty firebird goes they rose from the ashes only to be engulfed in the bitterness once again, the war still raging from years ago.

People try to find solstice in love, only to have it burn before their eyes.
