Others of recent years were Dr. Foredyce, G. W. Mathis, Frank Clark, Geo. Armstrong, John Carrithers, and John, Cephas and Joseph Coe. In various ways the congregation has been served by Benjamin Franklin, J. B. McCleary, J. W. Monser, Rochester Irwin; Mr. Thompson, a Scotchman; Mr. Nevins, Isaac Slick, Mr. Sabin, W. B. F. Treat; John, Jefferson and Washington Houston, who were great evangelists and singers; Mr. Watson, Mr. Taylor, Perry Hoge, Mr. Spencer and N. J. Wright, whose great meeting led to the erection of the present building in 1894. The church has given to the ministry C. C. Carpenter and Robert Witchen.
