The second game of the day was against the North Gwinnett All-stars.  Rutherford Stephens was unable to play after getting to the field her migraine became so bad she was sick and ended up going home.   Kelsie Royal had a great hit to the outfield and was robbed by the right center fielder.  Katie Westmoreland hit 2 out of 3.  The Panthers did pretty good batting but the were tired in the field.

Saturday, June 1 the Panthers started the day off playing the Lawrenceville All-stars.  Katie Westmoreland pitched the whole game only giving up 3 runs and batted 1.000.  The excitement of the game was Katelyn Randall getting two hits both of them to the grass and Amberleia Henson also got a hit.  Both girls were players of the game.  Rutherford Stephens and Whitney Dekle also batted 1.000.  We were missing Kimberly Farris after spraining her ankle in the game the night before but Jenna Peatross came and filled in.

Friday, May 31 was the Panthers first game in the South Gwinnett Tournament we almost came back to win the game against Bogan.  Our bats were lacking for almost everyone except the Hannon girls, Cally and Halley, who got 4 out of our 5 hits.  With Cally going 3 for 3.  Katie Westmoreland was our other hit.  Kimberly Farris got injured early in the game trying to slide into home.  Virginia Bader walked every time up to bat.  Whitney Dekle did a very good job at first base.

Thursday, May 30 we had our team party at Mountain Park.

On Sunday evening, May 19, Katie Quinley and Rutherford Stephens were recognized in the GA recognition ceremony  at Mountain Park First Baptist Church.  Kelsie Royal and her sister Mackenzie was also involved in GA's but was unable to attend the ceremony

We had three girls get hits in this game Katie Westmoreland, Jenna Peatross, and Rutherford StephensRutherford Stephens also had the highest on base percentage getting on 4 out of the 5 times she came up to bat in the tournament.

Panthers bats weren't working very well to start off the Post Season Tournament, Friday, May 17, Katelyn Randall ran the bases very well managing to score one of our two runs.  Rutherford Stephens got on base every at bat.  Her first at bat she was hit by ball four and her second at bat she walked.  Defensively Whitney Dekle caught to popups and Rutherford Stephens caught one.  The play to end the game was an awesome double play for Halley Hannon.  She caught a fly ball in right center field and threw a line drive into Whitney Dekle at first base for the double play.

The Panthers hung in there and pulled off another win.  Our pitchers, Virginia Bader and Katie Westmoreland each added 3 strikeouts to their stats.  Defensively we bobbled a few but hung in there Cally Hannon made a great catch in the outfield.  On the offensive side Whitney Dekle went 2 for 2 and Kelsie Royal hit 2 out of 3.  Katelyn Randall walked every time at bat.  Jenna Peatross added a double.  Katie Quinley scored 2 of our 7 runs.

Rutherford Stephens older sister, Julio, won the Tiger award for band.  Her soccer team was the state runner-up in the Chevy President's Cup Soccer Tournament.

Coming out on Wednesday, May 8 the Panthers looked like a whole new team defensively.  Kelsie Royal did an outstanding job at shortstop having 5 assists and 2 put outs.  Whitney Dekle put in another great appearance at 1st base with 7 put outs.  Jenna Peatross did a great job at 3rd base and Halley Hannon caught a pop up in the outfield.  Rutherford Stephens had another heads up play at 2nd base  missing a line drive she didn't give up on the play and managed to get the force from 1st and tag the runner that was attempting to return 2nd base thinking the ball was caught.  Our offense wasn't as good tonight but Kelsie Royal did well going 2 for 3.  Note, Laura Perez has gone the whole season, so far without a striking out.  Great Job Laura!!

Tuesday, May 7 the Panthers played Collins Hill, the Panthers offense was off tonight but Rutherford Stephens made a quick thinking play in the field at 2nd base.  Whitney Dekle had her best game all season at 1st base.  Running to her right to stop a grounder she fell over while stopping the ball, she pushed the ball to the shortstop, Kelsie Royal, at 2nd base managing to get the put out.  Good Thinking Rutherford and Kelsie!  On the offensive side Laura Perez and Whitney Dekle batted 1.000.  Amberlia Henson got hit by another pitch making that the third time this season; Virginia Bader also got hit by a pitch.  Katie Westmoreland got two walks.

Rutherford Stephens older sister, Julio, played in Chevy President's Cup Soccer Tournament over the weekend of May 3 & 4.  The Gwinnett YMCA Lightening Excell won two games, because of lightening they were unable to play their third game so it was decided in a shoot out.  They lost the shoot out but scored enough goals to advance to the semi-finals.  Since they won the semi-finals they will be advancing to the finals on Saturday, May 11 at 3:00pm in Griffin, GA.

Congratulation, Panthers on another good win beating Norcross 13-3.  Our pitching staff, Virginia Bader and Katie Westmoreland, combined for five strikeouts.  Defensively Halley Hannon stepped in at 2nd base and had one put out and an assist.  Helping our offensive side of the game Kimberly Farris batted 1.000 and scored 3 of our runs.  We had a lot more RBIs this game Cally Hannon had 3 RBIs, Virginia Bader had 2, and Whitney Dekle and Laura Perez each added 1.

Good job Panthers , We one both games in our double-header on Saturday, April 27.  Virginia Bader pitched all of both games and ended up with 13 strikeouts.  Our youngest player Halley Hannon had 2 doubles and 3 RBIs.  With two more doubles Halley now has  three for the season.  Jenna Peatross and Cally Hannon each added 3 walks to help on the offensive side of the game.  In the first game against Norcross our outfielders had a good work out Katie Quinley caught two popups and Halley Hannon caught one.  In the second game Kelsie Royal helped out by giving Laura Perez a much needed break at catcher.

We will be missing Katie Westmoreland, Katelyn Randall, Kimberly Farris, and Whitney Dekle for Saturday, April 27, 2002 games because they will be attending their Girl Scout In-Gathering weekend.  Have a nice week end girls: see you on Saturday May 4, 2002.;00

Tuesday, April 23, 2002 the Panthers went up against another Duluth team.  Halley Hannon went 2 for 2 and Jenna Peatross led the team in walks with 3 with Katelyn Randall adding 2 more walks to her 5 for the season putting her in the lead with 7 for the season.  Our fielding helped put this game away.  Laura Perez with a nice heads up play, caught a pop foul and threw the ball to Jenna Peatross at second base for a double play.  Then to end the game Cally Hannon caught a line drive in left center and threw the ball to Whitney Dekle at first base for another double play.  The Panthers great defense led them to their fourth win.  Winning the game 13-7.

In the game on Saturday, April 20, 2002 our pitchers combined had 15 strikeouts.  Virginia Bader with 10, Katie Westmoreland with 3 and Rutherford Stephens with 2. Leading the Panthers to two victories against the Auburn wildcats.  Along with our outstanding pitching we also had a lot of hot bats.

In the game on Monday, April 8, 2002, against Duluth Kimberly Farris and Whitney Dekle put together a nice double play.  A game changing play the Panthers went on to win 7-5.  Katie Quinley went 2 for 2 to help us on the offensive side of the game.

In the game on Saturday, March 23,2002, the first game of the season for the Mountain Park Blue Panthers.  The Panthers' faced a very fast pitcher, the first time around the lineup the girls struggled to get used to her.  The second time around each of the girls did much better; it is to bad we couldn't have gone for a third I think we would have started hitting her.  Laura Perez managed to get our only hit of the game.
