PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

First, let me say what an honour it is for me to be elected as the first female president of the Picton Golf and Country Club and I would like to thank my fellow Board members for having enough confidence in my ability to elect me to fill this position and, with their help will continue to provide both members and guests with the same fine quality of service to which they have become accustomed.

Our nine Board members this year are Paul Gentile, Vice President, Bob Bird, Roy Insley, Bill Kidnew, Al MacDonald and myself, all returning from last year, as well as three new Board members - Tom Gorsline, Ric McCormick and Tom Mullins (one of our Past Presidents). Representing the Ladies section on the Board this year will be Karen Insley.

For your information, the Board Committees are as follows:-
FINANCE - Paul Gentile, Bob Bird HOUSE - Bob Bird, Tom Mullins PRO SHOP - Al MacDonald, Bill Kidnew, Tom Mullins, Ric McCormick.
GREENS & CARTS - Roy Insley, Paul Gentile, Tom Gorsline.
LONG RANGE PLANS - Bob Bird, Roy Insley
PERSONNEL & COMMUNICATION
Roy Insley, Bob Bird, Al MacDonald
GAMES - Bill Kidnew, Ric McCormick.
SOCIAL - Ric McCormick, Roy Insley, Tom Gorsline.
JR. GAMES - Al MacDonald Ric McCormick
LADIES REP. - Karen Insley.

This season the Board decided that our food and beverage service will be managed by the Club itself.

I am happy to report that Chris Altoft will be returning as our Greens Superintendent and Scott Bigg will be returning as Manager of the Pro Shop.
Peter Cole will also be returning in his capacity as Secretary-Treasurer as well as Manager of Operations.

In keeping with the wishes of the membership, to pay down our debt and hire a Club Manager, the Board felt at this time it would be a financially responsible decision to hire Peter Cole as Manager of Operations for a trial period of one year, after which time the position will be reassessed and further decisions made.

I am looking forward to working with our present Board of Directors and hope the season provides us with lots of sunshine and good golfing.
See you on the course!
Joyce Armstrong, President.

In The House

The Clubhouse is in transition once again. We have said goodbye to " Currah's" and the "club" will operate it.

Peter Cole will be the Manager. Expect to see a lot of new faces as we enter into this new challenge. I will promise you that this season our main focus will be on service. The half way house will be open as posted and the bar cart will be on the course waiting to serve you. Early May is the expected date (weather permitting) to see the cart roaming the fairways.

Renovations: Last fall we closed in the deck area to allow for outside storage. All renovations to the inside of the club were completed last season. The outside of the club may need stain. We will be looking into this.

Your Clubhouse committee is: Bob Bird, Tom Mullins, Paul Gentile and Joyce Armstrong.

DRESS CODE
The dress code is posted and the Pro Shop employees have strict instructions for its enforcement. If you come to the course dressed inappropriately you will be asked to change.

Our Dress Code:

  •  no jeans or cut-off jeans.

JUNIOR GAMES

The junior program will begin on June 10th. The entry fee of $10.00 is the same as last year so get your money in early to ensure a spot in the program. Rudi and Mike will be back to provide expert instruction.
The Junior Invitational is on July 8th so mark that down on your calendar. The St. Lawrence tour will also have a number of tournaments to play in.
Your committee members representing the board are Ric McCormick and myself.
Mom's and Dad's, we are always looking for volunteers to help with the Juniors. Please see Scott at the Pro Shop or myself if you are willing to help out.
