By CHRISTOPHER JENSEN PLAIN DEALER AUTO EDITOR   Without a doubt, the 1899 Winton has the longest factory warranty and most comprehensive roadside assistance progam in the world. That is a good thing when you are tryinig to drive from Cleveland to New York in one.
The best thing of all is that I don't have to call anyone. There is no toll-free number, because the factory representative is sitting next to me as we head through Batavia, N.Y., bound for glory-- or at least the village of Leroy.

Charlie is Charles F. Wake, 56, of Sarasota, Fla., the greatgrandson of Alexander Winton, the Cleveland founder of the car company who drove one of his cars from Cleveland to New York in 1897 and then again in 1899 in the company of Plain Dealer reporter Charies B. Shanks.
We are repeating the drive on the Winton Centennial, which celebrates the l00th anniversary of the founding of the Winton
Motor Carriage Co. It is an event organized by Winton descendants, including great- grandsons Wake and James A. Winton of Rocky River, and the Fredrick C. Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum which owns the 1899 Winton.
