Well, the new racing season has started and I finally took the SS out of winter hibernation! I went to Cecil County Dragway on Friday 26/MAR/99 for Friday Night Grudge Racing.
The weather was great, a little chilly, but that's what the engines like, cool dry air. It started out cool and dry anyway. The first run of the evening it was 57 degrees with 37% relative humidity, by the last run the temp. was down to 37 degrees, but the humidity was up to 95%
I haven't done anything new to the car since last November so I was not sure what to expect! Take a look and see what happened.

These runs were made with the car just as it finished the season last year, with just the Accel 300+, K&N Filter, and Hypertech Power Programmer Plus w/160 stat, as the only performance mods. They were on BF Goodrich drag radials and if you remember, I have installed Kenny Brown Double Diamond Sub Frame Connectors, IRS Terminator Series Trailing Arms & Panhard Rod, a B&M Ripper, and an MSD Shift Light.
The only thing I did differently was to use a 5700RPM module in my shift light instead of the 5500RPM one I was using last year. As you can see all but one of these runs bettered my [email protected] from last year. In fact if you look at the highlighted text you will see that I broke into the 13.3's and ran in excess of 104MPH for the first time!
I ordered a set of ASP underdrive pulleys, an SLP Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, and an IRS 75MM Mass Air Flow Sensor. The underdrive pulleys arrived the next day and have since been installed. The AFPR and MAF are still in-transit and will be installed as soon as they arrive. Also, I used my Hypertech Scan Tool on several of these runs and found out that I am still getting up to 6 degrees of knock retard, so I installed the LT4 knock module at the same time as the pulleys.
One thing I find to be very interesting are my 60' times. The BF Goodrich drag radials have made them very consistent. As you can see they are within .062 of each other, thus taking traction out of the equation. It would be nice to get them in the sub 2.0 range, but I am not sure this can be done without slipping the clutch. Since my car is also street driven on a regular basis in the summer time, I am not prepared to do that at this time, so I will just be happy with consistent 2.0's!
The next time I go to the track it will be with at least the underdrive pulleys and LT4 knock module installed. Hopefully with the MAF and AFPR also, so it will be interesting to see what happens. Hopefully the weather will stay cool and dry for a little while longer so I can have some good comparisons.
