FORS© RULES COMMITTEE NOTES
Eighth WORKING Edition, May 1998
Suggestions from Chris can be found here.
And from John Nestor here. John now has
submitted comments on Chris's inputs. These are posted
here. New additions to forced passing by John Weber can be found
here. New additions by Tim Carnahan can be found here.
The first meeting of the FORS Rules committee had their first meeting! The
following is a brief listing of the changes that were passed. The rules linked
on this page will be changed to represent these inputs. Some clarifications of
the rules where agreed to. However, I only list the changes below.
- A new Position of Pit steward (2nd place in prior race - Congrates Tony!)
- When a car has cold tires, leaving or gaining the line cost a cold wear
instead of a 1/2 a white wear.
- Change to Tire Variability Chart (no more 1/2 wear and the remote chance
of +/-3 wear)
- Change to the Hot/Cold tires Chart
- Tire WARS! Team choose tire (BridgeRock or GoodMonth have applied for the
98/99 FORS season - Micheals have announced thier interest in the 99/00 season).
- Deleted Spin-Off Track Reliability Table.
- If forced to late brake in excess allowed by the rules, Spin and Test Brakes.
- Deleted free 20mph over Top Speed, Going 20 over your Top Speed is
always a push.
- Deleted 360 Spin effect
- Change the Brake Reliability table
- Successfull
- Lose 1 tire wear or Flat Spot (FS), +1 Brakes
- Lose 2 tire wear or Spin, FS, +1 Brakes
- Lose 2 tire wear or Spin, FS, -20 to Decel, FS, +2 Brakes
- Change the Pit Relibility Table.
- No effect
- +2 to standing start table and Lose 2 tire wear
- +4 to standing start table and Lose 4 tire wear
- Same as C plus lose one turn in the Pits and +1 Reliability
- Made the -20 Handling spin effect repairable (Odd...But Hey Ferrari could it!)
- Drivers Champ is Best race out of the season minus two
The second meeting of the rules commette is over! The following is a breif
list of the rules that have been changed/amended/qualified and mucked up
as a result.
- A new forced passing procedure from John Weber
- Added a +2 to the spin table for spins in pit row.
- Every repair, other then tires, wings and handling takes an extra turn each to remove.
- Quick pits do NOT fix anything!
- Only the first push over top is a reliability test, one can maintain
20 over top without pushing reliability. 20 over top is a maximum.
- Droped the statement that there is three lanes abrest at EVERY start.
This is a track dependant feature.
- Change the starting procedure to be test accel (optional) then roll
on the Standing start table (blue commetted when rolling the SS table and
not the over-accel).
- Modifed the Car design tables for top speed and handling
- Allowed a car to buy zero reliability or zero dsm's
- Added BACK red chips. They are NOT purchased, but come with the
decel that you get.
The last rules comette meeting has happened and the test race conclueded. We
had seven drivers and ran a full seven laps at Imola. Nothing was
eleminated as a result of the race. There were some clearifications and
ammendments, but no rules that have been added from past meeting were removed,
sorry guys - deal with the "new" stuff. The changes/errata are:
- A forced wear panality is removed from the top of your wear stack - If you
have hot or cold tires on top you lose those in a forced pass penality.
- Spins in a force pass occur in the space behind the blockers.
- March 13 date changed to March 20.
- Argentina will be the new Jeff August race track (6 laps?)
- The passer can be blocked if going 60 mph faster then the blockers and
gets a -5 to his roll. A car may not block if it is 80 mph slower then the
passer.
The rules now have ALL changes in them. I expect only MINOR additions to them.
