This was the 1st generation changer for the car. I believe Pioneer was the FIRST to introduce a CD Changer to the automotive market. This changer used the same magazines as Pioneer's home models, so this allowed you to swap magazines between home and car. This changer (and all other "M" changers afterwards) used the AMPS (Auto Magazine Program Selection) system. This was a built-in computer memory lets you program up to 32 selections on discs in each of up to 16 six-disc magazines - a grand total of 512 selections. And thanks to AMPS, once a "programmed" magazine is loaded, all you have to do is to start program play with just a touch of a button.
