13 Jul 2000 Text-by: Richard Chandler email: [email protected] country: England divulge-mail: YES acquaintance: SURFING THE WEB comments: Is there anyone out there who would like to form a tribute band to Focus? I am an experienced drummer (ex top Led Zep band) & have many contacts on the circuit. My motivation is to play some of the best music i grew up on & if i can find likeminded musicians of the ability the music deserves i am sure an audience is waiting out there. If you are a keyboard player but dont play flute/vocals don't let that stop you from getting in touch. I would be pleased to here from anyone no matter where you live. My telephone number is UK 01453 885528. Richard Chandler England
7 Apr 2000 Text-by: Freeman Carmack email: [email protected] country: USA divulge-mail: YES acquaintance: LINK IN ANOTHER ROCK PAGE comments: I have been a big Focus fan over the years.I,too, was a keyboard player and found Tjiis'work to have impecable taste,musicality,melody,counter-point,AND could rock. Jan's guitar/lute work was a revelation, also.I have lost several of my LPs over the years, but still have Hamburger Cto,Motherfocus,Live at Rainbow, and Dutch Masters on vinyl, and a best of CD,released several years ago.One of my prize posessions is the Focus album on cassette. I always found their music to be very evocative. My Wife is Swiss, and when I returned to the States,I found myself listening to Focus' music to try to recapture a "sense of place". I wish them all well in the future, and hope that we will be able to enjoy their music again, before too long. Freeman Carmack Worthington,Ohio

16 Jan 2000 Text-by: kent sohlen email: [email protected] country: sweden divulge-mail: YES acquaintance: LINK IN ANOTHER ROCK PAGE comments: hello!i am an old focus fan and i would just like to say that i hope focus will never reform without jan akkerman because no such thing is possible.akkerman was focus! however i like thijs van leer and his music very much amd his contribution to focus was indeed significant but one can`t replace a musician like jan akkerman. he is so talented that he is just devastating.as for a reunion without him,it`s a joke. catch him in concert playing the old focus numbers and there you go-it`s focus alive again. pure magic!NO ONE can fill up jan akkerman`s place.anyway, loking back on all of the classic focus albums and the live concerts, what would they have been without akkerman`s guitar? you know the answer. any connection back to the glory days of focus is linked to jan akkerman.without him no focus.
09 Jan 2000 Text-by: Gordon Taylor email: GordonFocus2 country: England divulge-mail: YES acquaintance: SURFING THE WEB comments: As The previous Chairman of the Focus Fan Association International I felt I should comment on the uniqueness of a band that will remain unsurpassed as ambassadors of quality music. In an industry fast disappearing down the tubes they remain for me the finest band ever. If anyone can help me to contact Thijs again I would be grateful as we lost touch some time ago. As I am leaving the web soon please send any information to 18, Lowther Square. Beaconhill Glade, Cramlington, Northumberland. England. NE23 8ES. Many thanks.

13 Dec 1999 Text-by: Joaquin de Carpi email: [email protected] country: Spain divulge-mail: YES acquaintance: SURFING THE WEB comments: I was mad about Focus in the years 1975-1980. I lost their trace later. But, fortunately, I found this fabulous FOCUS Tribute Homepage and I'm enjoying very much everything I see here. Thank you very much, Rodrigo, and Congratulations
08 Dec 1999 Text-by: Courtney McFarren email: [email protected] country: USA divulge-mail: YES acquaintance: SURFING THE WEB comments: Answer/Question/Question: How did you find this Page? Answer: I've been here before! A while back, there was a vote on the best FOCUS album. My initial response was either "Moving Waves" or "Hamburger Concerto, however I felt that day". Someone wrote back saying something like "I can't believe anyone actually thinks HC is better than MW!" ...and the more I think about it, this guy was RIGHT!!! Moving Waves is the PRIMO Focus album, Followed by (not Hamburger Concerto, but:) Focus 3. Why did I change my mind? I didn't. I've probably listened to MW about 2000 times and F3 about 500 times before HC was released, and got bored with them after a while. Then HC came out; and it was VERY BAD at first, but then after about 60 times on the turn-table, HC was THE Focus album. Not because it was better than MW or F3, only because it was NEW. After 20 years, Moving Waves is still the #1 Focus album, followed by Focus 3, the only studio album with the Focus as we know it (PVDL on drums and BR on bass). To me, Focus is Thijs van Leer, Jan Akkerman, Pierre van der Linden and Bert Ruiter. To this day, I've always thought that Jan Akkerman was the best ROCK guitarist, and that Pierre Van Der Linden is one of the best drummers/percussionists alive. Too bad he wasn't in HC. CMcF

11 Nov 1999 Text-by: Collet Paul email: [email protected] country: France divulge-mail: YES acquaintance: SURFING THE WEB comments: Dear Rodrigo, The acess of your site is very complicated ! there are so many sites called "Focus" ! After hours of surfing, I wrote "Jan Akkerman (Focus)" and I could enter your site immediatly. I think you should take off music by Midi File because it sounds like techno music. Why don't you try original Focus music ? Except these two problems, your site is wonderful. The first track I heard from Focus was "House of the King" and I really thought it was a follow-up of "Bourre" by Jethro Tull which was a monster hit in France. I've got 5 CD's out of 8 in the first period of Focus. My faves are "Moving waves", Focus 1 and 3, and "La cathdrale de Strasbourg". I think Jan Akkerman should stand with the top guitarists. All musiciens in Focus are talented and tecnically very good. Thank you so much for this site. Paul Collet

01 Nov 1999 Text-by: Scott L. email: [email protected] country: USA divulge-mail: YES acquaintance: SURFING THE WEB comments: Fresh, innovative, classically influenced, yet at times hard-rockin`; Focus could do it all. One of my all-time favorite bands ever. I would like to obtain some of Jan Akkerman`s solo works. Some of my favorites are "Focus 2", "Sylvia", "Tommy", and "Hamburger Concerto". Jan`s "Valdez", from "Pleasure Point" is absolutely gorgeous, and the title track rocks!!
