24 Feb 2002 Text-by: Ben Neiman email: [email protected] country: usa divulge-mail: YES acquaintance: SURFING THE WEB comments: Hi Focusphiles, this website is very well done! I am looking for live recordings of guitarist Eef Albers, audio and video. He plays out in the Netherlands fairly regularly with his own group. Does anyone have video of him? Also, I believe he toured with Focus in Holland on their last tour in 1977. Can anyone verify? any tapes out there? I would like to trade tapes with any Eef collectors. Akkerman is fantastic also!

28 Oct 2001 Text-by: Nico van der Linden email: [email protected] country: The Netherlands divulge-mail: YES acquaintance: WORD OF A FRIEND comments: Dear Sirs, as an early pupil of Thijs van Leer [late 60ties] and a family-member of the original drummer I've been a fan since their very first concert ever. I've been recording them during their early years at various concerts in the Netherlands. Even a jammsession on January 5th 1970 while they were playing Miles Davis stuff. - Lots of luck with this website, yours sincerely Nico van der Linden

18 Oct 2001 Text-by: David Mckeown email: [email protected] country: N. Ireland divulge-mail: YES acquaintance: SURFING THE WEB comments: I was very lucky to see Focus in the early seventies both in Dublin and Belfast. They were undoubtedly the greatest rock band of their time and to this day I don't know of anyone better. Their sound on stage was equal to their recorded stuff and the sheer ability to make melodic tunes was I think unique.I still enjoy performances by the likes of our own Van Morrison etc. but why Focus have never got together seriously again is hard to understand as I think they would possibly be even more appreciated now with so much rubbish about.Well at least I still have their cds(and the memories!!)
18 Sep 2001 Text-by: Dave Smale email: country: England divulge-mail: NO acquaintance: LINK IN ANOTHER ROCK PAGE comments: Great web site on the most unique band I've ever heard, even to this day. I first came across Focus on the BBC radio programme Sounds of the 70s back in 1972, I think the track was Anonymous 2. My interest developed from there, through all the subsequent albums, right up until the 1985 album, after which I lost track of what the band were doing. Saw them twice as well, at the Bristol Colston Hall in 1974 & 1976 (Phillip Catherine had joined just a week or so earlier, I think). Favourite tracks? Too many to mention, but I always did feel that the Hamburger Concerto track was & still is one of the finest pieces of music I've ever heard from anyone. Good luck to all the band members for the future, whatever they're doing. Now isn't it about time one of these Focus videos people have been writing about elsewhere on this site actually APPEARED in the shops in Bristol?? I have never seen one anywhere at all around here!

29 Aug 2001 Text-by: Rob Sheard email: [email protected] country: england divulge-mail: YES acquaintance: SURFING THE WEB comments: missed seeing Jan last year at international guitar fest, wirral, by just two tickets. Is it too much to hope he will play this year? Anyway, Focus are one of the only bands I regularly devote whole evenings of vinyl reverie to, and it's spreading! You would be suprised how many people are in need of 20 minutes of total guitar assault!(per side). I have just paid top dollar for Jan's solo "Profile". Oh My bleeding fingers! Love on ya Rob.

01 Jan 2001 Text-by: Vladimir email: [email protected] country: Russia divulge-mail: YES acquaintance: LINK IN ANOTHER ROCK PAGE comments: Amasing web site with very convenient navigation, and wonderful decoration with much respect expressed toward Focus&Co. I've been a Focus fan for several recent years and it is obviosly due to Jan Akkerman and his ability to 'cover' different music styles I widened my musical horizon and now I am more keen on jazz rock and fusion. Unfortunately it's very difficult (and in Russia expensive as well) to find and buy Jan's releases. Still being a Focus fan I haven't yet heard some of their works(1st album, Ship of memories, Con Proby and Focus'85). But I am pretty sure the time will come and I will have them (and more!!!) in my CD collection. My best regards to all ya. Long Live Focus!!!
