Grammar - Verb - Past

Past tense

There is only one past tense in Nalheárlu.

It is formed with the help of auxiliary verb rlái (to flow) in Present and a past participle of the semantic verb.

Past participles of the verbs of Ist and IInd conjugation are formed with the suffix -ck

        númli (I) - númlick

        báxi (II) - báxick

Past participles of the verbs of the IIIrd conjugation don't add -ck but they change the verb suffix -i into             -e

        maipalái (III) - maipaláe

        meppói (III) - meppóe

Most irregular verbs have irregular forms of past participle.

        ifáni - fuáneck

        rlái - reláick

        tóepi - toépe

        ki - eké

        rhi (1) - erhé

The past tense of all verbs is built as follows:

e.g númli

reláihu númlick I went

reláiru númlick you went

rláicku númlick he went

etc
